Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inaccurate I bought this last week to replace an older thermostat. It works just like the older one except for one important aspect.I noticed when the room temp. is almost reaching the set temp. by 0 to 0.5 degree C, the thermostat will intermittently called for heat. I called Honeywell, the technician's explanation was the thermostat is designed to work on 0.5 degree C increment, complicated by conversion from F scale. The displayed temp. may not be the actual temp.,causing the thermostat to call for heat on and off. This is certainly not acceptable especially for a Honeywell product. I believe accuracy to 0.1 degree C is the norm for the industry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Changing the temp. from Farenheight to Celsius Fortunately Honeywell has good customer service as the instructions for changing the temperate scale are not in the manual. Don't waste your time just call the 800 number. Other than that the product is easy to program and works perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for reasonable price The thermostat installs easily for my needs (2-wire heat only situation), and performs well. The setup series was easy to follow, and within a reasonable time it was operational. Setting the temperatures for the various periods was a bit tedious, but you generally only have to program this once and leave it to operate. I initially ran it on the Smart Response setting, where it starts the burner early to reach the desired temperature at the desired time, but since I burn wood as well with a combination furnace, starting a wood fire before the oil cut in probably threw things off... I switched off the Smart Response and will re-engage it in the spring when I stop burning any wood. This thermostat doesn't have the wifi connectivity, but I don't really require that, and when running on oil it keeps the temperature steady on the degree setting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy I bought this thermostat to replace an old Honeywell thermostat. It was very easy to install and fix to the wall and I had no problems connecting the wires to the thermostat. It is also easy to program and I like having two separate schedules for Saturday and Sunday. Visually, it looks nicer than the old thermostat. In terms of price, it is a good buy. However, because this thermostat is smaller, one has to be ready with some paint and compound to fill the area occupied by the width and length of the older thermostats. I would also have liked a usage monitor to determine how long the airconditioner/heater has been in operation for the day but the newer Honeywell thermostats don't seem to have this function anymore. In addition, the manual only has the Energy star settings in fahrenheit and I had to do some conversion from fahrenheit to get the celsius equivalents. Lastly, the thermostat's default setting is in fahrenheit and while I managed to set the thermostat to celsius, it took a bit of searching in the manual to find out how to make this switch. The manual could certainly be improved. Overall, however, I have no problems with the thermostat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works with 20 Series (3 WIRE) control systems We have a VERY OLD (90 years) steam boiler heat system in our factory. Heat is delivered by opening and closing a valve. The old thermostat is one of those round mercury switch types. There are three wires to connect: R = power, W = open valve, B = close valve. When heat is called for, R-W Closes. When heat is no longer required, R-W opens and R-B closes. This is called 20 series wiring. If you have this type of system this is the only honeywell digital programmable thermostat that will work for you. Or any of the ones with a HIGHER model #. The thermostat must be configured for heat only. I spent about an hour on the phone with honeywell technical to figure this out. Leave the R-Rc jumper in. The thermostat works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm!! I just bought this product today and was a little intimidated with installing my own thermostat. After reading the instructions, I started the job and actually found it really easy, even for a DIY rookie like myself. The instructions are clearly spelled out with easy to follow pictures. Contrary to another post, you can set this to Celsius as one of the set-up options, and the programming is completely customizable and simple to do. The readout is nice and clear, and all the information, including the set and actual temperature, is there at a glance. Great product and installed without any hiccups. Would definitely recommend to others!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I thought by buying a Honeywell product I would be buying quality but that isnt the case. Firstly it only reads in Fahrenheit (they put a sticker on it showing celcius which is a misrepresentation) and secondly it will not let me override the existing weekly schedule it sets for itself. Basically this thing is garbage.

Information above indicates wifi, I believe this is a mistake as the documentation on the Honeywell site does not mention it, nor does the manual include any information about it.

I bought this and I am having difficulty with it. I have a two wire furnace only requirement. I connected the wires to the R and the W, however the furnace runs and the fan never shuts off.

Asked by: Peking
Hi Peking, thank you for your question. We're sorry for the experience you're having. Please take the T4 5-1-1 Day thermostat off of the wall and verify if the fan keeps running. If the fan continues to run, then please contact your local HVAC installer to come to look at the system. If you take the thermostat off of the wall, and the fan stops running, please replace the thermostat at the place of purchase. I hope this was helpful. -Chea

Hello, I currently have a Honeywell programmable thermostat, it uses batteries and currently its going through 2 AA batteries within about 4-6 weeks, I know this isn’t right and want to know how long the batteries in this unit are supposed to last?

Asked by: J_drex
Hi J_drex! Thank you for reaching us. This thermostat works with two AA alkaline batteries, they should last for about 6 months. As a suggestion, please verify that you're using alkaline non-rechargeable batteries. Also, the thermostat requires certain amount of power to work, for that, we recommend to check if the voltage that the thermostat is receiving is the proper one. If you wish, you may contact us at 1-800-468-1502, reference case number 00775491. We will be glad to assist you with further troubleshoot and any other question you may have. Thank you!

I have a 2 speed fan on my furnace. will this unit work?

Asked by: craig Bowman
There's only a single G connection for the fan. Assuming you have 2 separate wires for each of the fan speeds, you would have to choose one to connect and that would be the speed whenever the fan came on.

I bought the RHT7460 thermostat to hook up to our hot water boiler system. There are only two wires coming out of the wall- 1 black 1 white. I hooked it up the R and W connections, but the furnace will not start. Any ideas?

Asked by: Ron33
Hi Ron33! I'm sorry to hear that your Honeywell T4 Programmable Thermostat isn't working properly for you. The first thing I would check is that the jumper between R and Rc is in place. This thermostat has a built in jumper; it is a grey switch underneath the R terminal. With the setup you've described you should have it in the up position. Also verify that the programming is correct for your system type; make sure it is set up for a boiler. You can also check voltage between the R and W connections at the thermostat to make sure you are getting enough voltage. You should have between 20 and 30 Volts AC between R and W. If all of those have been verified and you are still experiencing issues, please contact Honeywell Technical Support at 1 (800) 468-1502 and they can help you walk through specific troubleshooting. I hope this was helpful! Thank you.

Currently I have an old manual non programmable thermostat and I want to replace it with Honeywell programmable thermostat RTH 6400 D1018 model because I am installing an A/C unit. How do I add the third wire to handle the cooling system? Thank you.

Asked by: Rookie88
Hello Rookie88! I do apologize, but it would be difficult to advised how to wire the thermostat without knowing a little more about your system type and application. In general, there will be four wires for a single stage heat/single stage cool system. The two wires from the heating system will go to the R (Load) and W (Relay) terminals. The two wires from the cooling system would go to the Y (Compressor) and G (Fan) terminals. For further assistance with your wiring questions, please feel free to contact Honeywell Technical Support at (800) 468-1502. Thank you.
