Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quit Working This tool was great while it lasted. I owned it for about 2-3 years but have only used it couple times! I think I have charged it like two or three times since owning it , which shows how much i used it . But today went to use it to take off 2 nuts off the car the tool quit working. If I used this everyday or had like 100 charges out of it or it didn't hold a charge I would be more understanding. But to fail after a few uses , i would not recommend this tool. It worked as expected while it lasted.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Used to be worth it They were totally worth it when they were $60. I think they're overpriced now. Yes they work well but you can get the Ryobi with a battery and charger for $79 on sale. The Ryobi is a not the best but they're definitely better.

My son is the maintenance man for a 150 unit apartment complex and a weekend mechanic. For Christmas, he asked for a 3/8 cordless ratchet.. What is the "average" life expectancy of this tool? Am I understanding the description & answered questions correctly?? that basically when the battery is no longer able to be recharged, it becomes trash.. a $60.00 disposable tool? Am I missing something? Thanks for any advice you have for this confused mom.

If your son is handy enough to require this tool, at the end of its battery life, he can replace the battery if necessary, but it will take a bit of work to disassemble and then re-solder a new battery pack into the tool.

In short I would say yes as the battery can “be replaced” in pretty much any and everything.  This was a gift so it’s not directly in front of me so I can’t tell you the procedure to replace the battery, but if it were a necessity, I’m sure you could find someone on YouTube or elsewhere that could guide you in the event the battery is mishandled and no longer charges.  If you’re asking if the battery can be replaced as easily as replacing the batteries in your tv remote or your personal massager, the answer would be no.  Fortunately, it’s not a tv remote, so replacing batteries should be a non-issue.  That’s why they make tools such as this, with rechargeable batteries, so the idea is to recharge the battery(ies) in the tool, by plugging the included charger into an appropriate electrical outlet, and then allow the tool to “recharge” it’s battery(ies), and in doing so, it’s as if you just replaced the batteries because the tool will work again, almost as if you had just replaced the batteries with new ones.   If on the other hand, you meant to ask if the battery(ies) were INTERCHANGEABLE, the answer would be negative, as noted in the product description where it states “Long-lasting internal 12-Volt lithium-ion battery with charger”, the manufacturer is trying to communicate that the battery is most likely not interchangeable, and most likely not meant to be replaced by the consumer, but, as long as you understand the risks associated with, and take appropriate precautions in doing so, I’d refer you back to my initial statement that almost all/every battery can be replaced in some capacity, and thus it would come down to whether or not you felt the tool was worthy of replacing said battery when the original battery does meet its EOL.
