Files themselves seem of decent quality and have worked well for me so far. I believe you would have to spend a LOT more to get an equivalent set of files that are the same quality, much less better quality than these. However, the large plastic handle did NOT fit any of the 3 larger files for me at all. The small one worked alright, but I ended up needing to go to the hardware store and getting some of the threaded wooden screw on handles for the larger sizes. If Husky could either offer this set with some screw on handles for a bit more, or redesign the large plastic handle to actually fit this set would be 100% perfect!

The small intricate files were a bonus... The Rasp File I was going to buy was a buck & a half less so I bought this set which HAD the Wood Rasp File! Real Bargain! The rasp worked just as I needed it to & I also picked up good quality files for the DIYer's Tool Box! Oh & they're Guaranteed For Life!

After using the rasp, I realized I needed also to use the large flat file to finish the job. I'm sure I'll find uses for the remaining set of files at a later date. :o)

I plan to store them in their packaging to remind me, and facilitate replacement, if needed.

I didn't think it would be problematic not having a handle for every file, but after 2 broke and I lost the third, the inability to replace the handles has made this set trash. I'm very disappointed that there isn't an option for purchasing more handles and I don't understand the reasoning for it...except to force us to purchase another set after the cheap handles break or the ones with handles walk away from our tool area.

However, I noticed that the teeth on the short side, this has me concerned about how long they will be effective and needing to clear them frequently while using them. As I was pulling open the packaging, the smallest file broke in half. we'll see how good the warranty service is on that. if they make it painless, I'll boost this to 3 stars. I've used the two largest files to sharpen shovel in a pickaxe oh, and they got the job done.

Hello John, glad to help answer your question. No, this is not the set you need. What you want to look for is a diamond file or sometimes called a diamond sharpener. I would look for these & try to find a Medium & Fine grit sharpener to file the glass you have. You should also search YouTube, there are many videos showing exactly how to do what it is you are trying to accomplish. Hope this Helped.

Yes, these will sharpen an axe blade if needed. These range in sizes. So you can cover MOST sharpening needs with these. Specific needs will require specific files(mini files,etc.) Hope this helps out.

The plastic handle does have a interference fit on the tang of the file, which is tapered. When using the file you need a secure handle to operate safely. It may pay to buy extra handles rather than to damage the plastic.
