Fire Rating issues.I bought 21 lights
In accordance with the information provided by manufacturer, confirmed that no additional encapsulated FRP box is needed, I installed these lights in my condo (cut the holes in the ceiling/trace the wires/patched,painted...) .
So far I already spent approx $5000.00 just for the job performed by licensed electrician company and drywall contractor.
However it appears that in accordance with the "Vancouver Building By-Law" I still need to install additional drywall boxes for each light.
All job ruined , $5000.00 - wasted

sleek and contemporaryJust installed two 580 Lumen I-DSPN4SN in large landing area. Prior single light there was too dim. These are slick to install and are dimmable and insulation rated, which means cool running. After installation my wife said "were going to need a dimmer switch". Enough said.

What the fire rate of this light?
Can this light be installed in a rated fire wall/ceiling without build an additional box around the fixture in drywall, to maintain the fire rating?
Asked by: Serg
Thank you for choosing illume® There is no Fire rating for light fixtures but they are approved for direct contact with insulation as well as gypse as long as it is rated 90º. No box is needed when the installation is done but electrical codes do vary from a province to another.
