Rated 1 out of 5 by from Interbuild ACACIA Teak top (BAD) After spending $319 +50 for shipping i was totally disappointed with the appearance. The TOP was rough and uneven, i cannot place this on my kitchen counter top What a disappointment. I will definitely return this piece of bad workmanship. Must of been Friday afternoon when they were making this

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, but not has dent-resistant as I'd hope We're generally pleased with this counter. It looks fantastic in our new kitchen, however the one drawback I'd give is that the wood isn't as "hard" as I'd expect hardwood to be. I don't have much experience with acacia wood so I guess I didn't know what to expect, but it's definitely not as hard as oak or maple. Another thing worth noting is depending on how you finish your counter top is you'll probably want to get a can (or two!) of the stain that matches the counter - we finished ours with regular coating of butcher block oil and wax (which again, looks great) but if you really need to scrub hard on something you can scrub off the stain finish. We had a bit of dish soap that was blue tinted sit on the counter for a while unnoticed so we needed to scrub to get off the blue mark (now we're only using clear dishsoap to ensure it doesn't happen again) and the teak stain of the counter came off along with the mark from the soap! For the price I'm still quite pleased with the results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality No really hard wood and poor quality. The plank was not perfectly square. Warp after installation. Disappointing and might return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IT'S BEAUTIFUL BUT... It's beautiful. But it needs to be sealed with an oil stain that HD doesn't carry in store. Also make sure to store it flat. It has a tendency to curve. Should stain and install it soon after purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Product, wish it wasn't ship to home ONLY The product itself is nice - however, it is only available to be shipped to your address. It came with the corners damaged, unfortunately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great I built my own kitchen island and could not be any happier with the top. It does require an oil treatment once a month, other than that good price right size, and free delivery. Thanks Home Depot

Does even the "hardwax oiled" version of this countertop need to be sealed with wood oil prior to installation?

Asked by: bruce
The original finish on the acacia countertop is a Hardwax wood oil finish. However at least one and preferably two additional clear coats of natural wood oil such as the Interbuild food-safe clear wood oil is required to properly seal the panel.

The top is alot darker than the bottom side. Can I use the bottom if I seal it with butcher block oil and sealant or is it safer to use the darker top?

Asked by: TAMMY
You can use either side as the top of the countertop. Usually, the darker side is the face of the countertop and the lighter side is the reverse side. When sealing the countertop, please make sure that you apply three coats of sealant to all surfaces.

Does it need to be stained oiled waxed or anything prior to cut to fit? I want an install ready item not a counter project...

Asked by: lauren
The countertop panel comes with a golden stain finish but the panels have to be sealed with three coats of a natural wood oil prior to installation. The sealant needs to be applied on all six sides of the panels.
