I want to reduce this pipe down to a 3/4 or 1" pipe for non-potable water. I can't seem to find bushings or reducers that allow me to do that. Any recommendations on the parts (and pipe) to do that?

Asked by: Darren
You will be hard pressed to find parts for what you want.   This is a sewer pipe not a portable water pipe.   Good luck.

Can this product be used as an exhaust vent for a bathroom fan, being run through an outside wall?

Asked by: AlainVisible
Hello and thank you for the question. PVC sewer pipe is only rated to be used as part of the drain waste line for sewer systems. I can not recommend it for venting a bathroom fan. You can either contact your local municipality and ask if they would accept this product for venting a fan or contact Home Depot to speak with an associate, have them give you the product numbers for the venting pipe for a bathroom fan. They do carry those components in store.

Asked by: AlainVisible
this pipe is not the normal application for a vent. galvanized metal pipe sections are typically used for bathroom venting

I need to conduct fresh air from outside into my cold room. The pipe will go out from the hole near the ceiling down to the floor. May I use PVC 3 inches x 10 ft. SOLID SEWER PIPE - Ecolotube for this?

Asked by: Boris
Yes, that should work fine. make sure you put a grill of some sort on or in the pipe at the opening so mice or squirrels don't enter your house through the hole like a "termination vent screen" https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ipex-homerite-products-3-inches-termination-vent-screen/1000655633 or https://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Plumber-s-Choice-3-in-Termination-Vent-Cap-with-Condensation-Drain-TVENT3/305851781 notice the 90 elbow so rainwater doesn't get in also.

Is this pipe suitable for drinking water? I want to make a hydroponics system using piping and want to make sure it is safe to use for growing vegetables. If not, please recommend a different type of pipe for a hydroponics system.

Asked by: Andy
Hello and thank you for your question. The 3" pipe you are inquiring about is for drainage and sewer water, therefore it has not been rated for Potable Water. A rigid pipe that would meet code for potable water is CSA approved Schedule 40 pressure pipe. Look for NSF 61 NSF pw-G on the pipe. Home Depot carries 1/2" to 1" in most stores, larger sizes are available through special order.

The project I'm working on requires schedule 20 or schedule 40 PVC. Can I use this for the project?

Asked by: Gogogo
Pipes made to schedule 40 are ABS DWV pipe (black pipe) comes in 1 1/2”, 2”, 3” and 4” System 636 pipe (white pipe) comes in 2” and 3” Electrical conduit (grey pipe) comes in 1/2”, 3/4”, 1” 1 1/4”, 1 1/2” and 2” I am not aware of Schedule 20 being available in Canada. The sewer pipe you are referencing will not work if schedule 40 is required.

Is this schedule 20 PVC?

Asked by: Gogogo
Thank you for the question, but no PVC sewer pipe is made to a Dimension Ratio of 35 and needs a transition fitting to fit on Schedule pipe.
