iSpring CU-A4 4-Stage Ultra Filtration Water System w/Sediment, UF, KDF, &Activated Carbon Filtration

Model # CU-A4|Store SKU # 1001103071

Overview

Model # CU-A4 Store SKU # 1001103071

The CU-A4's first stage is a 5 micron sediment filter (PP for short) used to remove rust, sand, and solid impurities from the water. The second stage holds the UF (Ultrafiltration) hollow fibre membrane. The UF membrane has a micron size of just 0.1, giving it the ability to remove suspended particles and contaminants of high molecular weight from the water. The third stage is a hybrid filter, combining KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion Media) and activated carbon. KDF media kills algae and fungi, controls bacteria growth, and removes chlorine, pesticides, hydrogen sulfide, iron, lead, nickel, chromium, cadmium, calcium, aluminium, mercury, arsenic, and other organic compounds. The fourth and final filter stage houses the post activated carbon filter. This coconut shell activated carbon filter polishes off the water by removing any possible residual chlorine, tastes, or odours.

  1. The next best thing to reverse osmosis - does not require a storage tank, waste water, or wait time
  1. Sediment (PP), Ultrafiltration (UF), KDF & Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC), and Post Carbon (AC) filters combine to filter the water down to 0.1 micron
  1. Filters out up to 99% of targeted pollutants including chlorine, THMs, VOC, lead, arsenic, heavy metals and microorganisms
  1. Can be installed inline and used as a fridge filter
  1. Filter cartridges are twist on and off allowing them to be disposed and replaced after each use with no hassle
  1. Superior 4-stage multipurpose water filtration system for safer, healthier, better-tasting water. The advance 4-stage design, which includes both Ultrafiltration and KDF/GAC stages removes up to 99% of 700+ contaminants including LEAD, VOC, Chlorine while keeping healthy minerals. Note: This system does not reduce TDS as Reverse Osmosis system does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iSpring 4 stage water system I have had this system close to one year. It is very good water system because does not need any tank that fills up my under sink cabinet and water quality is just as good as RO water with tank. Recently I had a problem with the faucet of the system. I called to company and asked for replacement. Mr. Sean who replayed my call very nicely and promptly advised me and shipped a proper replacement. I think the company, product and service is excellent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money The filter system did not improve the quality of water at all, based on the measurement of TDS, the value is same as tape water (250-300 ppm), while the filter on my refrigerator reduce the value to 190 ppm, as a reference, deer park spring water is 50 ppm. Really disappointed, did not realize this until I get a water quality tester. Don't waste your money!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, and top-notch customer service I bought the CU-A4 because its KDF (kinetic degradation fluxion) filter combines the advantages of carbon and RO (reverse osmosis). An RO filter filters more contaminants than carbon - such as arsenic and chromium. However, RO also wastes large amounts of water, and because it removes safe minerals as well, it requires a remineralizer. By contrast, a KDF filter can filter most of the same contaminants as RO, but like a carbon filter, it doesn't waste water and it doesn't remove safe minerals. So the iSpring CU-A4's KDF filter essentially combines the best of carbon and RO. In addition, iSpring has fantastic customer service. I've been using the CU-A4 for about a year now, and I just recently bought a new refrigerator that has an ice-maker. So I bought the iSpring ICEK ice-maker kit and asked my plumber to install it, so that my ice-maker will use filtered water as well. But my plumber informed me that he couldn't complete the installation because when he installed the ice-maker line, the ice-maker would receive water only when the sink faucet was on. (Luckily, I had my plumber completing a few other appliance installations as well, so it wasn't a waste of a service call.) So I called iSpring. A representative named Sean answered. I said to Sean, "I have one of your water filters, and I'm having a problem with the ice-maker line." Before I could even explain the problem to him, he replied, "Wait, are you using the faucet that came with the filter? That faucet has a built-in pressure regulator, so water flows only when you turn on the faucet tap. If you connect an ice-maker water line, it will get water only when the faucet tap is on. If you want to connect it to an ice-maker, you need a faucet without a pressure regulator, plus a separate, independent pressure regulator." I replied, "Wow, that sounds exactly like the problem my plumber was describing!" Sean proceeded to help me place an order for the specific parts I needed to complete the installation of the ice-maker water line. So overall, I am very satisfied. The KDF filter combines the best features of typical carbon and RO filters, and the iSpring customer service is top-notch.

The water has a bit of an after taste that our old Whirlpool system did not have. We drink a lot of water so we've switched to bottled spring water for drinking and use this for cooking, coffee, etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No impact on TDS...frustrated So I guess i missed the fine print that said this system does not effect TDS. My tap water measures 108 TDS, i run it through a brita pitcher and that measures 71 TDS. Tired of filling up a brita pitcher 5 times a day i opted to buy this under sink system expecting better performance that the Brita but not full RO. when i lived on a well i had an RO system that took the TDS from 700 to 25. I didn't need anything that fancy on city water. But after install and flushing system for 20 minutes, it read 108, just like the tap water. So you are telling me you can remove 95% of hard metals like iron but don't reduce TDS? but my little brita filter can? Doesn't make sense to me...are you really removing anything?!?! It's already installed so i guess i'm stuck with it and a brita pitcher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ispiring 4 Stage Replaced an old RO unit that had a tank and 1 to1 waste water to filtered water ratio. The old system 12 years ago was $546.00. It was installed by the plumbing company used by the general contractor we hired to build our new home. The removal was simple. The new installation was simple but had challenges due to how the plumber chose to connect the water feed to the old system. A brass 3/8 compression tee with a 1/8" FM NPT outlet. I found a brass adapter 1/8" M NPT to 1/4" FM NPT. Connected the plastic shutoff value 1/4" M NPT to this brass adapter. The shutoff value also had a 1/4" tube connection. See photos. Once I had acquired the correct connections the install took 30 minutes. I am well pleased with the new tankless Ispiring RO unit with no waste water.

Anyone do before/after water testing? anything to show this system is actually doing anything?
Asked by: RMS
Hi RMS, Yes we have a spec sheet showing the chemicals and contaminants removed. This system does not remove dissolved solids TDS or PPM as the system does not remove mineral content. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), my tap water measures 108, when i use my brita water pitcher it measures 71. This measures 108 also. Why no change?

I bought this system expecting further improvement and goal of not constantly having to fill up the pitcher but after running system for over 10 minutes it’s measuring 108 TDS, same as tap water. What am i missing?!
Asked by: Rosh
Hi Rosh, This system does not remove mineral content or TDS or PPM. In order to do this, you need a Reverse Osmosis system. This CU-A4 system is an Ultrafiltration system, not RO. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC

Is it necessary to use a separate faucet? I am renting and cannot bore holes into the sink.

Asked by: katp
HI katp, The CU-A4 comes with a special/required air-gap faucet that is used to keep the resting water pressure (PSI) off of the system. You can use a single line faucet but you would also need the APR40 pressure regulator to keep the pressure off of the system. If you have any questions regarding this please contact our office at 678-261-7611. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC

Does it really filter fluoride? Ispring has answered yes and no to this question on this model. Which is it?
Asked by: Josh
Afraid that information will have to come from the technical support group of ISpring. I checked their listing of chemicals filtered and fluoride was not in it, but the final word must come from the manufacturer of the filter system.
