Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid at all costs Purchased this filter because it was also supposed to reduce manganese (had an iron only filter last summer). After 4 weeks of cottage use, had to throw it out and get another brand. It did not reduce the iron in the water as our water was always yellow/orange from day 1 and was getting worse by the fourth week. Water use was not excessive since we don't have a washer or dishwasher and only had quick showers. As soon as we changed to the new brand, the water became crystal clear within hours. Stay away from this filter, it's garbage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This iron/mag cartridge is terrible I've had this ispring iron reduction system installed for 2 months. we really had high hopes. In the 2 months we went through 5 of these iron filters. Iron test shows 1.5 to 2ppm before the filter and after. TDS 275. for 3-5 days after cartridge change we'd have brown water. Filled a jug and it settled to the bottom, it's the iron cartridge media! 5 out of 5 were bad! They aren't supposed to do this. Waste of money and time. Contacted ispring and they replaced 1 iron cartridge and it did the same thing. I can put water in a glass, 3 hours later you can see the rust :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked for about 2 months. Then water was back to 3ppm This filter worked great for the first month, after that I started noticing a slight iron taste again and after retesting at the two month mark the water was almost back to the 3ppm iron level it started at. I will be looking for a different iron filter and I recommend you do as well.

Asked by: Sue
Hi Sue, This would be based on your comfort level. I would recommend watching the filter change and installation videos on youtube.com by iSpring and then based on your comfort level, you can try or if you are not comfortable you can hire a plumber or handyman to complete the work for you. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC

Why does this item has a removable cap at the top? it doesn't explain why this has it. Thank you.
Asked by: hal
Used by supplier as in the previous answer. Just remove it when putting in the filter unit, it will optimize H2O going through the filter much better. Make sure you system has a pre filtering unit the removes excessive sediment, etc so the manganese filter doesn't clog up. Ideally, you should have a 3 unit system for the well sources: 1) sediment; 2) charcoal 3) the manganese. I only have 1 and 3 and works well to keep toilets, sink from that black manganese junk. I also use filtering unit in my 'fridge for drinking water and coffee, tea. Keep the family safe. Does this help with answer?

Added this filter to my system. My iron level is .03 ppm and manganese is .08 ppm. I use about 45,000 gallons/year. Can I wait longer than 12 months given these rather low numbers?
Asked by: DrO
Hi, We would recommend changing this filter every 6 to 12 months regardless of the numbers. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC

will this filter also reduce the chlorine level.

Asked by: outKast
This filter is NOT for chlorine reduction, but will reduce the reaction of untreated well water on chlorine which you have used on or in white plumbing fixtures, sinks, tubs and clothes with chlorine bleach. which is to turn your well water orange. The filter is specifically for removing excess iron and manganese from well water. It will reduce or eliminate the "cucumber" smell, metallic taste and orange to pink staining of water and anything else your untreated water touches, including clothes. I can always tell when it's time to change the filter. Just put a few drops of tea in a glass of water and it will turn inky black in front of your eyes. Install the filter, and you have clear clean water in a minute.

Asked by: jj
Hi jj, This system and the Iron/manganese filter will filter the Iron up to 6.0 ppm. The system will work to reduce or remove Iron up to this level. Anything above the 6.0 ppm would still remain. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC
