Every Fall I use them on all my trees, large and small. My trees at the street are the healthiest ones in the neighborhood. I know using them in the Fall, that my landscaping will have a vigorous, lush start in the Spring. And they are so easy to use. I just have to make a small hole, insert the spike into the hole and that's it! No muss, no fuss. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been very pleased with Jobe's organic granular fertilizer for my herbs, fruits, and vegetables, so I figured I'd give the spikes a try for my tress and shrubs. Note that this is not the organic version of the Jobe's spikes - while they are available, they cost quite a bit more (Product #300440733). I'm not quite as committed to paying for organics when I'm not planning on eating anything that comes from the plants, but these spikes still have the Jobe's name behind them, despite costing about the same as the mass-market spikes (which I've also used). I noticed that these Jobe's spikes have a more multi-colored, granular appearance than either the previous spikes I've used or the promotional photo on this product page, which I'm guessing is not of the actual product. Given that this is Jobe's, I assume that the company has come up with a unique formulation that does indeed have a greater variety of components. The one drawback to this fertilizer spike is that it tends to split apart more easily when being driven into the ground, likely because the multiple components don't adhere to each other quite as strongly as a more uniform fertilizer product. You may need to clear out a hole in the ground using a tool to get this to drive in without shattering depending on how hard-packed your soil is. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have been using these for years. Jobe's also offers them for citrus trees too. I have used the citrus ones for years and have produced high yields of citrus fruit (oranges & lemons) from older trees that were not producing well in the past. You cannot go wrong with these. just stick them in the ground around the tree and water as usual. That's it! you cannot go wrong. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've used Jobe's tree & shrub fertilizer spikes for years, with excellent results. When I first purchased my home, there were a number of bushes and small trees on the property that were in obvious need of some TLC. I trimmed up the branches as best I could, but pondered what type of food would be best for each-- I have several small dogs, and wanted to ensure that whatever I used, they wouldn't be eating or getting fertilizer on their paws and tracking in the house. So I decided to try these pre-formed plant food spikes from Jobe's, and they proved to be effective shrub & tree savers. You simply use the plastic cap that comes with the spikes, put it on the end, and tap the spikes into the soil with a hammer. If you want to ensure your pets don't get at each spike, take a screwdriver or something similar and push the spike down into the ground a bit further, then cover up with soil. As per the directions, make certain you plant these spikes out from the trunk or center of each plant, around the "drip line," when the rain will activate them to release their nutrients into the soil and be absorbed by the root system. Within weeks, you'll start seeing results. I was able to restore all the bushes on my property using these spikes, and have kept them all lush and healthy over the last several years using these Jobe's spikes twice a year, onece in spring & once in the fall. A quick, easy, inexpensive way to provide your plantings all the minerals they need to thrive. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I'm a firm believer in fertilizing trees and shrubs on a regular, seasonal basis. I have found that fertilizing in the fall with fertilizer spikes is a huge help in protecting plants to survive over the harsh winters in our area. I find that fertilizer spikes work better than sprinkling fertilizer or mixing it in the soil. These seem to break down gradually and give longer term results than most fertilizers. I've used this product before and found that it really does a good job of fertilizing trees and shrubs. My complaint in the past was that the spikes were too brittle and tended to disintegrate when pounding them into the ground. It's been two to three years since I last used them so I thought I'd try them again as some of my camellias were looking a little stressed. I was pleased to find that the spikes went into the ground this time without falling apart on me. I just installed them so I can't say whether they will revive my plants as well as they did the last time I used them but I assume that they are just as effective now as they were the last time I used them. Here's a tip to make installing these things a little easier: water the plants first. That will loosen up the dirt and make it that much easier to drive the spikes into the ground. These things are bigger than railroad spikes so a rock-hard ground surface is going to be hard to penetrate with anything this size. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Spikes are about 6 inches long, and are inserted with a cap and driven into the ground with a mallet or hammer. Have used these spikes before and they are most effective when used with large bushes, shrubs, and trees because of the ease of spacing between the plants. Only problem encountered was when the ground was hard (clay based) or rocky. Then used a spike for a bore hole, and then the spike as normal. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My evergreen shrubs look so much healthier since I've been adding the Jobes fertilizer spikes. They're brighter green and more lively than before. The Chinese Elm, a large deciduous tree, in my backyard started growing new branches within days of adding the fertilizer spikes to it's soil perimeter. I love the results. The spikes are so convenient to use. Just attach the plastic cap to the spike, then hammer it into the ground. Reuse the plastic cap on the next spike. Very quick and easy.
