Kind of hard to review these, but as far as I can tell, they have done no harm to my mango and papaya trees which are planted in pretty poor, rocky soil. The mango tree is still too young to bear fruit, but the papaya tree has been growing pretty quickly and is flowering. Drove these into the ground right at each tree's drip line as per the instructions. My soil is somewhat rocky, but even then, 3 out of 4 went into the moist ground without issue. The fourth one hit a rock and broke just below the surface of the soil. Next time I'll drive a thin metal spike into the ground first to break up any rocks. The N-P-K ratio listed on the product page is incorrect - it's actually 8-11-11 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The " FRUIT AND CITRUS TREE FERTILIZER SPIKES " do work and did help all my fruit trees live longer and better. Easy to apply as long as you read the instruction correctly on where and when to place them. Do not place them directly close to the trunk of the plant, you want to put them into the ground approx: 2-3 inches from the root ball itself. It can burn your roots with direct contact. I have read online tutorials on how to care for them. All the sites recommended feeding them to keep them healthy and productive, My cherry tree is 3 years old and looks kind of ragged and has not fruited yet, so it really needs help. I have looked at various remedies and this product seems to be the most fool proof. Fall or spring are the recommended times for using, so I have just placed these around my 2 trees. I plan to update this review next spring to see the actual results, but as far as using the product, it was easy inserting in ground after it soften up after rains. I have a small fruit orchard, and keeping the trees fertilized and productive can be a chore. Jobe's fruit tree spikes help to automate the process. The spikes are composed of a compressed "bloom booster" non-organic fertilizer (NPK of 8-11-11) that is released over a 3 month period. Because the stakes are below ground, they are better able to feed the tree roots and not any weeds or vegetation that surrounds the tree. Application is very simple - you use 1 spike per 1" of your tree's diameter, and pound it into the ground within the root zone of the tree. Each box comes with a plastic cap that you use to cover the spike that offers a solid surface for your mallet to hit. In my case, I "predrilled" a hole using a spading fork. My soil is very heavy clay, and I did note that just trying to pound the stake in without doing this resulted in crushing the stake. I definitely recommend Jobes to anyone who grows fruit trees and wants a good yield. The slow release formula prevents burning due to overfertilization, and sustains healthy root, bud-wood and leaf growth throughout the season. And because the spikes stay below the surface, there is little danger to pets or children after they are installed. A good mulch cover on top of the soil should prevent any of the fertilizer from being within reach. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've used these Jobe's Fruit and Citrus Tree Fertilizer Spikes in the past with fantastic results. My lime tree yielded more limes than I could ever use and was super healthy. The diameter of the trunk determines how many spikes to use. You space them evenly around the drip line of the tree. Plastic caps are included to help drive the spikes into the ground without damaging them. Personally I've found it much easier to just dig a small hole. Even with the cap, trying to drive a spike into hard soil often results in the spike breaking apart. At any rate these spikes are an excellent product that definitely recommend.
