So after giving this a lot of thought and reading through countless reviews on HD's site and others, and watching video reviews everywhere I could find them, I decided to pull the trigger and order John Deere's snowblower attachment for my Deere E180. HD was the best price I could find anywhere, although I do think this unit is a bit pricey for what you get. The ordering process was simple and I was given a fairly long delivery date of somewhere between 1-2 months. I wanted to get this ordered before it got cold and didn't want to be fumbling around in the snow trying to assemble and mount it, especially after reading so many reviews about taking two hours just to un-crate the unit and even longer to put it together, how poor the assembly instructions were, etc. So - here's my take: The unit arrived much sooner than was originally quoted. It only took about two weeks. I got a call from a trucking company stating their driver was at the end of my 900 foot driveway and that he couldn't get any further. The driver asked if I had a pick-up truck and I told him I did, but was at work. My wife ended up driving the truck to the road and the driver was able to off load directly into the bed of my truck. My son later came over to help me get it out as the unit weighs aprox 250 lbs. The unit came packed well, as one would hope for, and expect. It was mounted/bolted to a pallet, and framed all around to protect it, then wrapped in plastic, and finally heavy cardboard stapled all the way around. I got some nice fire pit wood from that crate. Anyone that complained that it took them two hours just to un-crate this unit should probably not have purchased it. My suggestion to those obviously mechanically handicapped people is to take your tractor to the nearest Deere dealer and have them install a snowblower for you. The un-crating took me about 5-10 minutes with a hammer and wonder bar. Cutting up all that free fire wood took me longer. Assembly was fairly straight forward. READ the instructions FIRST. Take 10 minutes to sit down and read the assembly instructions BEFORE you start. You will notice that they have sections in there for a few different models (manual PTO, electric PTO, Etc) There is also parts included that you may not use based on those choices, such as a heavier tension spring for the electric PTO models and a few mounting brackets that may not be needed. The basic assembly took me an hour (it would have taken me half an hour if I wasn't filming the assembly for a you tube video) By basic assembly, I mean attaching the chute and it's control's, and attaching the lift arm and belt tension spring and bracket. That's it for the pre-assembly, and this is the configuration you will be storing it in for the summer months. I have mine sitting on a four wheel movers dolly so it can be moved around the garage and out of the way. Mounting the unit on the tractor is also straight forward and less complicated. Although having a 2nd man to help lift stuff would make it easier, it can be done without. Putting everything on for the winter should take no more than an hour at best. Removing the mower deck and front bumper is easily done and gets easier after you've done it a few times. Mounting what is called the front hitch is as simple as four bolts/nuts and is only a 5-10 minute job for even the slowest person. The belt drive carriage (they call it a module) slides over a couple of pins on the frame and two bolts/nuts and also only takes minutes. Attaching the actual blower, the chute control handle, and the belt is next. After that you're ready to go. Watch a few videos of how to mount it so you have at least an idea of what needs to be done. Deere has a good video out there that is pretty good. I haven't tested it in snow as it's still in the 80's, but I'll edit or re-post on the capabilities of this unit after the snow season. PS - I also bought a weight bracket and two suitcase weights for the rear of my tractor, and a set of chains for the tires. The extra weight helps a lot on my steep sloped grass hills in the summer

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A useless attachment, waist of money, huge disappointment I was glad to have this Snow Blower attached to my D155 tractor right before we had over 1 foot of snow in Wyoming. But it turned out to be a nightmare. The D155 tractor with this blower could not plow snow on a leveled gravel surface, on a slight incline or going downhill! The tractor cannot push this blower through the snow - the wheels are spinning (yes, with the chains on). The front wheels are too small to efficiently maneuver, so you are constantly sliding into the snow. When I pushed the tractor harder - the main drive belt came off (and, boy, it's a hassle to put it back on). The snow gets stuck inside the snowplow, clogs everything, and not only you can't lift the blower with the attached handle, you can't even manually fix it in a lifted position (I had to stick a screw driver). All-in-all, I spent 2/3 of my time digging out the tractor, adjusting chains, repairing it. I was much more efficient with my Troy-Bilt walk behind blower. DO NOT waist your time and money.

I had to buy new Long drive belt first year. Dealer does not carry them. Had to purchase one from auto parts store so did not have to wait to ship one. Since day one I had problem with engagement cable coming off arm. My fix use zip tie to hold in hole ever year when installing back on tractor. Had problem with frame being to light. Sides bent when hitting uneven spots in drive way and sidewalks and entrance to streets. Fix! Welded heavier angle iron to sides.. After each time blowing I had to clear snow that blew on the shoot to keep it from freezing and not able to work after sitting. after 5 years I had bracket break that holds controls by steering wheel I had to weld it up and add heaver steel. But all said I'm still happy with the amount of snow it moves in a very short time. I would buy it again but fix the problem spots before starting to use it. I clear 5 homes each time it snows and I have even cleared my street in front of property. Neighbors love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Bought slightly used 6 years ago. Put it on a LA 135 Was a learning curve to get the most out of it cost me a couple belts and shear pins Added bag of salt for extra weight. Just did 4 large family driveways because wet snow was to heavy to shovel. Lever is bit heavy lol like 1 shovel of snow. With a bit of common sense this is a great product.

Is this compatible with a John Deere LA165?

    Asked by: Alex
I would stay away from this blower.  It won’t lift off the ground using the Handle. The lift handle isn’t strong enough and flexes. So the bucket won’t lift off the ground unless you get off and lift it by hand.  Got rid of it.

Will this Snow blower fit on to a John Deere LA 145 tractor? Getting mixed answers if yes or no, don't want to buy and find it won't work.

    Asked by: SD57
Just an FYI.....I went ahead and bought this.....installed and working flawlessly on my LA145 in 4 hours. Some minor modifications to a couple existing brackets was all that was required, otherwise it bolts right up. Scott.

Will this fit my John Deere L111 lawn tractor?

    Asked by: Mdil
I don’t know.  I had it on my E180.  It’s almost impossible to get it to lift up and down with the manual arm they provide which bends instead of moving the blower up and down.  Use a plow.  That’s my advice.

What come whit the snowblower. Does all the subframe attachement include. Can you ad a picture of the parts included?

    Asked by: GErald
there is 3 main pieces in the crate when you order for "D" or "E" series 100. the rear section that includes the pulleys and belt, the front section that mounts over the front wheels onto the frame and support the snow blower, then you have the snowblower it self. Dont reck your brains if you need more then the 2 hours time frame they say on some comments because it took me more then that I think just to uncrate the kit and aboiut 4 hours to install the first time, but when come time to reinstall it the next year it take about an hour to do because all the little pieces stay together when you take it off in spring, make sure you order extra shear bolts for the auger. Also you need the chain kit and Weights (only one per kit so order 2), and the wiegth bracket. It become expensive but it's all worthed, I love it, it's a man's toy.

is there an electrical lift kit that will work on 2019 john deere e130 tractor and 2018 snowblower attachment?

    Asked by: halb
Don't buy this product!!!! It is too heavy on the front of even a bigger tracter (E160), even with the weights. Had chains also and all it did was get stuck and spin one wheel in moderate wet snow. For the lift, not that I saw a kit. The lift was hard to use and you need lots of strength to squeeze handle to release. This may work if you get light snow on an otherwise clean concrete driveway, where both tires touch the concrete, and you weigh 2225 to 250 + pounds and are very strong.
