Model # 900-0119 Store SKU # 1000806868

The Kidde 900-0119 uses breakthrough technology to offer a fast response to real fires, including smoldering and fast-flaming, as well as protect you from carbon monoxide and dramatically reduce the chance of nuisance alarms. The Intelligent sensor technology combines the detection capabilities of an ionization smoke sensor which is more likely to detect smaller, less visible fire particles, like those produced by flaming fires with that of an electrochemical sensor, which is used to detect CO. Since carbon monoxide is present in all fires, having both detection chambers work together in one alarm is a breakthrough in the fire safety industry. When either sensor notices a potential hazard, it will communicate with the other. Depending on what is detected, the alarm will adjust its smoke sensitivity in order to better discriminate between a real hazard and a false one. This constant communication enhances the alarm's overall performance in all fires.

  1. Many Provinces & Municipalities have created legislation requiring smoke alarms or specific types of smoke alarms in various settings. Certain laws also specify when homes need carbon monoxide alarms.
  1. Combined Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm A single unit can be installed where previously, two were needed. Reduces installation time and protects against both fire and carbon monoxide dangers.
  1. Intelligent Sensor Technology Combines the detection capabilities of an ionization smoke sensor with that of an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor.
  1. Voice Warning Announces the hazard type detected (Bilingual). Alarm announces "FIRE!" when a smoke or fire hazard is detected and announces "WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE!" when a CO hazard is detected.
  1. 120 V Interconnectable Will interconnect with up to 24 other devices (18 of which can be initiating), including smoke alarms (limit of 12), CO and heat alarms
  1. AA Front-Loading Battery Backup Change batteries without the need to remove the unit from the ceiling, providing continuous protection in the case of a power outage.
  1. Multi-function One Button Design includes: Hush® Feature Temporarily silences nuisance alarms for approximately 10 minutes. Test Feature Test's the units electronics and verifies operation.
  1. End of Life Notification Ten (10) years after unit is first powered, this alarm will emit two beeps every 30 seconds to indicate it is time to replace the alarm.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete Junk I’ve had this for 2 months now, nothing but problems. Alerts for smoke randomly when there is zero cooking or anything going on. We had our stove out for a few weeks so no cooking of any kind - alarm still went off randomly about smoke. Try to press the silence button and the thing goes off full blast. Despite being hard wired, goes off about low battery in the middle of the night. If there was a fire, we probably wouldn’t believe it, what garbage. Worst product ever, what a waste of money, do not buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Random alarms. Don't buy this model. Don't buy this model. I have had two that randomly alarm. I replaced two smoke/CO alarms when my old ones were at 10 years old. No problems with the old ones. Now the basement one alarms at random and only beeps twice and says 'fire' without alarming the other two detectors. Has been getting more frequent and wakes us up at night. Tried the reset and it still randomly alarms. Home Depot replaced the first one and second one does the same. Some posts say this may be RF interference and one video showed how adjusting the volume on a computer monitor would trigger the smoke alarm. Do yourself a favor and skip this model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install I bought this smoke detector couple months ago was super easy to install and a good piece of mind

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Always going off Every single time I use my oven and open the oven door, this thing goes off in my hallway. We’re talking clean oven, nothing smoking or burning, I open oven door and this thing starts yelling “warning fire”.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems superbly okay Seems fine? Inside the box was a smoke detector. That's pretty much all I was asking for and my expectations were met at least 110%. 4 stars only because I haven't gotten a single compliment from any of my friends on my sweet new smoke detector :( Idiots? Probably.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have to replace regularly. Unhappy I have my 3rd broken alarm sitting in front of me. Every time there is a power outage which is not uncommon they break and beep non-stop when power comes back on. Truly annoyed and worried about safety.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If it's the only one available then yah, ok A smoke/fire alert has gone off about 4 times in 3.5 years, without any cause (usually between 11-4AM, no cooking/smoking etc), this week it alerted us twice in 5 minutes to Carbon Monoxide detection, and as per provincial guidelines we were advised to leave the house. Sent the family to a hotel while I waited for the the inspector. He came only to say ' no CM detected, maybe change the batteries... tried that, and now wrecked sleep #2 so unplugged it at 1:45 lol. So 2 wrecked sleep and 1 night at $252 for the hotel results in one big fat paramount 1 star! Yes, you want them a little sensitive as safety is paramount. The one I have is as hyper sensitive as a Generation Z protesting the rain as they find it 'offensive'. Let's get the engineering dept back online to do a revision and build better. Cheers

How often do you need to change batteries

Asked by: CT1949
I would suggest changing the batteries once per year. It’s a great smoke detector and now with the front load clip the battery change is very easy.

If I have 2 of these combination alarms interconnected with one that is only smoke detection (model #i12040ACA), will I have any issues? We have a common area that does not require the CO monitor, it would be the third alarm in the series. Thanks!

Asked by: Casey
It would work fine, I have two combination and one smoke interconnected and they work perfectly giving the appropruate alarm throughout our home

Alarm plastic colours vary depending on the batch the b=plastic was made. They are mostly white ranging into off white. No effort is made to be consistent.

My condo has fire alarm wiring of white red and green. It looks like the green wire has never been used. So, i think i have to connect just the white and? Since the red is for multiple fire alarms. I only have one fire alarm in my unit.

Asked by: leah
Hello. If the wires are white, red, and green, it is possible that this is a low voltage alarm system wired to work with your alarm panel and might not be 120 volts. We do not make alarms that work with low voltage or that work with alarm panels. You will need to confirm if there is 120 volts up there and which wire is the hot and which wire is the neutral. The safest way to do that is to get a licensed electrician and let them figure out what the wires are and what can be installed.

I am wonder what the wiring connection is for this unit. hoping it will just plug into my existing wiring. Is there someone I can send a photo of what I currently have to determine if it is compatible?

Asked by: Lisa
Hello Lisa, If the previous alarms are Kidde, then they are the same.
