Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible. Low chirps even with brand new battery. That's the 2nd Kidde smoke alarm i12040ACA that has the same issue. The 1st one, 6 months after installed, began to chirp every 30-40 seconds for a few minutes and stopped, then repeated the 2nd day or a few days later. I replaced the battery and it was OK for a few days then chirped again. Got fed up with it and replaced the alarm itself with another piece I bought as a backup. Same thing happened just about 1/2 year later. Replaced with a new battery and it chirped after 1 hour. Threw it into garbage bin and looked for another brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 13 Kiddes Just replaced 13 expired talking smoke alarms with the non-talking version. All required new mounting plates. The old ones had to be thrown away since they could not be recycled. Why the new ones should be different from the previous detectors, is beyond me. Also needed to discard 13 sets of wire assemblies. That is why four stars only. Couldn't these alarms be sold as NEW INSTALLATION ONLY or REPLACEMENT ONLY? For the past ten years all have worked well. I hope the new ones work just as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very sensitive - sleep disruptions! I replaced with 3 new Kidde alarm, PN 1275CA on Friday and from Saturday onwards the top floor alarm beeps, a false alarm , I reset it. Then after a few minutes, the main floor alarm beeps, reset it n again after a few minutes, the basement alarm beeps, reset it. I called Kidde Consumer Help Desk and the oady gave me a few examples why it beeped, one of them is spider got into the detector (it a brand new install, what a joke). Long story short, the 3 new detectors were beeping twice a day and from different time, one is at 6 am and at 4 am from the day I installed them. When it happened, there’s no cooking or any abnormal power outage. I will probably return them and I wouldn’t recommend buying this model. If any Kidde customer service agent or anybody is reading my review, here is one question: is this PN 1275CA a photoelectric smoke alarm. ?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hardwired device? Garbage I bought this device with the intention to not worry about battery replacement. However this requires you to replace it every year. It is my second smoke alarm. Both triggered battery low alarm in the middle of night after less that a year from the install date. Hardwired? This is a joke.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy a battery powered one This alarm has been nothing but a nuisance. It just keeps on beeping constantly and going off on its own in the night. Even put n a Duracell battery as a backup. It’s in our kitchen but away from the cooking areas. We ended up buying a regular battery powered alarm and have had no issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mettre une pile neuve d'emblée !!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replaced with i12020ACA Replaced with an older model that didn’t stop chirping. I changed only the unit and used the old mount and cables on the ceiling. It works fine. The battery lid was hard to close.

How do you access the battery to replace it on the P1275CA smoke detector?

Asked by: Vern
Twist the alarm off it's mounting bracket, remove the wiring harness from the back by pinching the head on each side and pull it out. The battery compartment is right under the harness connector. Any further questions, please call tech support directly at 1-800-880-6788 and they can help you directly over the phone.

I purchased 3 of these alarm two years ago. Last night app. 3 in the morning, alarm went off for a minute or two and then shut off. False alarm. Just wondering what is the cause of it going off

Asked by: mike
The main cause I would suspect is low or dead battery. Another factor might be if you smoke the sensor can build up with nicotine and cause sensor to malfunction. Mold or high concentration of dust particles can also cause sensor to set alarm off
