Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems superbly okay Seems fine? Inside the box was a smoke detector. That's pretty much all I was asking for and my expectations were met at least 110%. 4 stars only because I haven't gotten a single compliment from any of my friends on my sweet new smoke detector :( Idiots? Probably.

My condo has fire alarm wiring of white red and green. It looks like the green wire has never been used. So, i think i have to connect just the white and? Since the red is for multiple fire alarms. I only have one fire alarm in my unit.

Asked by: leah
Hello. If the wires are white, red, and green, it is possible that this is a low voltage alarm system wired to work with your alarm panel and might not be 120 volts. We do not make alarms that work with low voltage or that work with alarm panels. You will need to confirm if there is 120 volts up there and which wire is the hot and which wire is the neutral. The safest way to do that is to get a licensed electrician and let them figure out what the wires are and what can be installed.

Is the AA rechargeable battery included with the kit/purchase?

Asked by: Vancouverite
I don’t think the batteries were rechargeable. The unit will notify you if the batteries need to be replaced. It’s a much better option then the 10 year sealed battery smoke detectors.

will detectors still alarm at the same time if one is hardwired and one is battery operated

Asked by: suzy
The smoke alarms that I purchased are not linked and therefore will not result in one detector being activated due to smoke or carbon dioxide and then trigger the second unit to go into alarm even though that second unit had not sensed smoke or carbon dioxide. If however both units sense smoke or carbon dioxide, then of course both units will alarm.

i have a kidde model kn-cosm-ibca and it needs to be replace, I heard there was a recall on them, also, what unit can I replace it with

Asked by: Kevin
Models 900-0119 (KN-COSM-IBCA) and 900-0133 (KN-COSM-ICA) dating from 2004 until March of 2011 are effectively under an end-of-life recall - the end-of-life warning can be accidentally deactivated. Those alarms have a 7 year lifespan and need to be replaced. The recall was issued to make sure people understand they do not last forever. newer models after 2013 can have up to 10 year lifespans but not all do (CSA did not approve more than 7 years prior to that). Please contact the recall center at 1-855-239-0490. It is completely done through them.

Currently my alarms are wired in such a way if one alarm becomes alert and sound (siren), the other one on low floor will also siren at the same time. Could I replace my alarms with Talking Comb 120v with the same effects having them siren together?

Asked by: Roy100
Yes, you can use any other Kidde hardwired alarms to replace the ones you already have. They all use the same wiring harness and are compatible with one another.
