I love using kilz2 with all my garden and patio benches, as each year i repaint quickly with the same product, this way i always know the paint color will match, and this paints over dirt and stains real easy and quickly, its like cleaning them to brand new, basically sweep off any dirt that is above and beyond normal, but things like dog footprints and stains from drink spills i just paint right over, being its already painted, it takes minimal paint to cover everything, plus the white reflects the sunlight for the plants through out my garden, its just real handy and a cheap way to clean up the yard and patio,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not believe the paid reviews this stuff used to be good. used to cover old colors well. now it does not. i think whole milk is thicker than this stuff. i get the impression they have watered it down so much so you have to buy a lot more, image shown is TWO coats. we had test colors on our wall and decided to primer it all to avoid issues. walls were sanded, wiped down prior to primer. this stuff would would stick well, would smear on the wall with the roller. i gave up and returned it

I get so tired of the effort and the cost of continuing having to repaint the fencing. So I tried something different this fall- I tried the Kilz2 white stain blocker. My intention has been to use the Kilz as an undercoat and then once again, paint over the Kilz. But I have been amazed how great the Kilz continues to look even without painting over it yet! It has not peeled, flaked, faded, bled, or turned mildewy at all. I couldn't be more pleased with the results of using Kilz2 from Home Depot! Jim in Spotsylvania, VA

For tough stain blocking, I prefer the oil based version of KILZ, but this is great for covering an entire ceiling before painting with the final paint. This is a nice simple white paint with a bit of a satin finish. Ceiling paint is typically flat, so although this is white and covers well, it's not good as the actual ceiling paint. You'll want to finish with a flat white final coat. The price of the 2 Gal. Pro pack makes it feasible to use this as a general primer. The oil based version, though more effective is also more expensive and thus I typically use only for touching up actual stains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for some applications, not so much for others Initially we purchased this product to seal particle board floors after we removed the old carpet in a house that we had purchased. The smell from that old particle board was awful. the Kilz did a great job of covering and sealing the odor in. It also added the benefit of creating a waterproof barrier over the particle board. I highly recommend for an application like this. I later tried to use the same product over old oil based paint on the trim and doors. I would not recommend this. Like the paint, the Kilz would not stick to the high gloss finish. Great product when used for the right application

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runny junk We just sprayed 5 gallons of Kilz2 Latex primer 5 hours ago. It has not dried yet. About 2 hours ago we went over with a roller because it had started running down the walls. The runs were not visible when it was sprayed, they developed after hours of being on the wall. We were using the primer to cover semi-gloss paint. We have multiple fans running in the room trying to dry it out. You can still wipe it off the wall with a paper towel. Maybe we got a bad batch, but will be returning the second 5 gallon bucket we purchased. We have painted about 20-30 homes interior and exterior in the past, this is the worst primer we have used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Latex base makes for easier clean-up We had a "bonus"/open area on the lower level of an older bi-level home we just bought that we made into an extra room by putting up a partition wall; and then created a 12' long closet in the new room. The entire area/room was paneled, so we tried the Kilz and finish coats in the closet first as a test area. We wanted to paint over the old wood paneling--typical '60's brown-stained luan--so we used Kilz as a primer-sealer before painting with latex wall paint. It took two coats--in some spots--to seal the luan and keep the color from coming through, but the end result--after the top coat--was very good. We're happy with the results and will use it again to finish the rest of the room.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does NOT cover dark colors Wish I could give zero (0) stars. Trying to cover dark blue latex paint. Kilz 2 latex is being watered down. It beads up for the first 3 coats of kilz 2 over latex paint, then takes 6 to 10 coats to cover dark blue paint. Talked to rep at homedepot, he said kilz 2 has been thinned down to dry faster. I do not care about drying faster, I just want it to cover. So far, I have used 4 gallons to cover a wall 10' X 16' or 160 Sq ft, and I am on day 7 of painting using kilz. Should only take 2 days, 1 to cover using kilz, next day for final paint. Still trying to cover the dark blue. So, do not waste your money and time with this mess!

Hi Butter, Thanks for your question. Our primers are not stand-alone products, so it's best to topcoat them for long-lasting results. This primer can be left uncoated for up to 30 days before it's sealing and adhesion properties start to deteriorate. Best wishes! - Sara
