Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I bought a 5 gal. pail of KILZ PRO-X Interior P10 PVA to prime about 2000 sq ft. of new drywall. Due to the cheap price I wasn't expecting much. Rather I was just hoping for a usable product. Well ...was I pleasantly surprised. I applied the primer with a 13 mm roller. The coverage was as advertised. No runs, no splatter and all drywall compound was hidden after just one coat of primer. It dries fast and is vitually odourless. Highly recommended !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrendous! PLEASE...for your sanity, do NOT purchase this primer. Having gone to the product website to see if it could be used over paint as well as on new drywall, and reading that it could, I bought it. I had done some reno's so needed a good primer for both painted walls as well as a new wall I'd just built. This product is absolutely horrible, if I could give it 0 stars I would. After three coats of primer (even on the drywall alone), I sucked it up and went and bought another primer to do the job. It's like water and you just cannot get an even coat if you try. Don't waste your time or money, buy a more expensive product and save yourself the time, effort and sanity!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a sealer This product is designed to seal drywall, that's all. If you want to reduce the amount of costs you have to paint I would advise buying a higher density primer. It will take less costs and give you a better job. I really like this primer to spray on ceilings before I texture. It goes on fast and clean and drys very quickly. It is also very affordable and all I require for a textured ceiling. It is absorbed into the drywall very quickly which means it can't be pulled off with tape. It also sands very easily. If you want a heavy coating primer I would recommend the Behr drywall primer. If you have to cover stains then I would recommend the bullseye 123 primer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing primer I have primed a lot of drywall in my time. I usually buy high end primer. I saw this and took the gamble as it was for a personal project. For the low price, I never expected much. Oh was I wrong....Kilz PVA out performed. It covers new drywall and compound perfectly. It has a very light grey look at first, but dries bright white. I will definately be buying this again in the future. Great job Kilz...you've done it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great primer Was able to use this to cover 700sq/ft in basement including the ceiling on freshly installed drywall, even though the bucket says 400sq/ft and still have a 1/4 of it leftover. Can't see why anyone would want to spend more on a primer when this one did a great job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best!! I used this on my whole house on new drywall and I'm amazed at how well it covers it looks like the walls are already painted with one coat of this! And almost no splatter, and not at all smelly/harsh. If you want the best quality at the lowest price kilz pva primer is the only option as far as I'm concerned... and I'm very picky!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Like others, I bought this project based on price for my basement reno, but was impressed by the performance. It goes on grey so you can see what you are doing, but dries white. In my storage and utility room I just left it with no top-coat and it looks way better than just drywall. Coverage was better than expected - I bought 40 sheets of drywall (call it 3500 square feet with the trimming) and I covered most of this with one 5 gallon pail)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value, with a couple of provisos Bought this to use on client's newly boarded basement. Got 100 per cent coverage with the 5 gallon pail. Perfectly uniform undercoat, in other words. Dries in barely an hour. No odor. Drawbacks: I didn't realize it was grey (yah, the bucket is grey, but I didn't realize the primer was grey) and I didn't know it was not intended for glossy overcoats. But you know what, I did an extra cut and roll in the inside corners between the first and second coats. I can't tell it's grey under my ''Sleek White" semi-gloss Behr topcoat. And unless the client goes nutz and starts scrubbing every mark, I bet the paint job holds up over time. For $57/5 gallons, compared to $75 per GALLON for Behr, this KILZ product is a fantastic deal.

can I start to paint finish coating on this PVA primer after 1 week? thanks

Asked by: Jay G
We painted a small bathroom after the primer had been on for a couple of days and things were fine, if you want to wait a week before you paint that would be your choice. We didn't find any difference in our rooms for waiting or not waiting.

I have a new house and it was built about 2.5 yrs ago. Did not do anything to the garage. Drywall in garage is new. Just want to make sure this product can be used to prime a new garage drywall. Thank you. Dan

This primer is awesome! When fresh it looks gray but when dry it becomes white. Very good thickness, can be used for new drywall and old walls.

Can this product use for primer concrete? Thanks! Terry.

Asked by: Terry
Hi Terry - Thank you for your question. We don't recommend priming concrete with this product as it was designed for drywall only. Instead, you may want to check out our Kilz 2 All-Purpose Primer & Sealer for vertical concrete surfaces (https://www.homedepot.ca/product/kilz-2-all-purpose-interior-exterior-primer-3-79-l/1000404070). Our Kilz 2 can also be topcoated with water or oil-based paint in any sheen. Best - Sara
