Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes sharpening less of a chore I was worried after looking at the other reviews, but I bought it anyway knowing I could return it and I am quite happy with what I received. It is quite and smooth (I can't wait to see what it is like when I have balanced both wheels) and it makes sharpening a lot less painful if you get a chip or a nick in your blade. You still have to exercise caution and keep your tool cool with a cup of water nearby, but it is so fast and effortless to sharpen now. I'm so happy with this, especially for the price. I'll want new tool rests eventually, but I was going to anyway. The ones that come with these are never great. The main problem with these ones are that they have discrete settings so you can't just dial in your angle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Machine: Good Enough. Abrasive Wheels: Meh! I needed a slow speed grinder for sharpening wood turning gouges.With wheels removed the grinder is smooth and quiet, no vibrations. The arbor shaft has a very small shoulder for the inboard arbor plate to contact. I replaced the stamped metal arbor plate with a precision machined blade stiffener for better fit. The shoulder of the arbor shaft had some very small slivers of metal left over from the manufacturing; easily cleaned off by touch of sandpaper. I'm not too happy with the King abrasive wheels. The core is made of some rather soft material that crumbles easily. I lost some crumbs while putting wheels on the shaft and changing them around. The 60 grit wheel ran vibration free and wobble free with a couple paper shims between the wheel and the blade stiffener and a rather aggressive dressing with diamond tools.. I gave up trying to balance the 120 grit wheel. Nothing worked. I will probably buy a different brand of abrasive wheel for the other end of the machine. The price was very reasonable. Compared to other units it was like getting the abrasive wheels for free. Tool rests in this price range are usually a bit wimpy. I ordered a more substantial tool rest that is bolted to my workbench in front of the grinder. I'm not unhappy with this machine but I wonder if a higher priced unit would have made my tweaks unnecessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The wheels wobble like an old Model T Right out of the box, this grinder vibrated and danced around the bench. I took it to an Authorized King Canada repair shop and was told the King Canada does not warranty this Grinder. The Grinder has a 2 year 'exchange' warranty with Home Depot. This Grinder is a piece of junk, little more that Chinese made junk. Stay away.
