Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design - even hazardous! This splash guard just sits on the lip of the bowl and does not stay in place. The slightest bump or even vibration from the machine dislodges it. It then becomes a hazard, sometimes falling in to the bowl! I have resorted to having to hold it in place with one hand while using it. The design makes it difficult and awkward (almost impossible) to use as a left handed person. You basically have to set the mixer perpendicular to the counter edge to use the spout. Even for a right handed person you end up using the mixer with the speed control on the opposite side from you, so blindly operating it. I have dreamed of owning a kitchen aid mixer and I was super excited to receive one for Christmas. The awful design of this feature and the poor craftsmanship of the 5 quart bowl is disappointing for sure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from waste of time A pouring shield *should* stay both seal properly around the edge of the bowl, & stay in place. Sadly, this product does neither. Like many (dare I even say, most) reviewers here, there is a gap between the edge of the shield & the rim of the bowl, which lets powders fly out all over the place. Add that to the fact that the shield pops up/off at the slightest opportunity, & I've practically given up on using it. The only cure I've found is to wrap the two together w/ cling wrap, & secure the whole mess w/ a couple of sturdy oversized elastic bands!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total waste of money I received this pouring shield as a gift from my mother-in-law. I was very excited and thought the shield would be amazing and the end to all of my messy problems, but it ended up creating a bigger disaster. It’s a huge wasted of money and I can’t even return it! I thought maybe I hadn’t attached it correctly, but I’ve tried it several times, all with the same messy outcome. I’ll stick to my tea towel method for preventing splashes/spills since that is way more effective. Do NOT purchase this pouring guard, it’s a huge waste of money.

Love the mixer but frustrated that I did not read the reviews before this purchase. What a waste of money. I will be sure to share this review with family and friends. Time to invent something better!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did anyone test this product?? A shield with a large gap is not a shield. It's like a 6' fence with a 4' gate. You've really only got a 4' fence. This needs to go back to the drawing board and this time, the designer needs to keep the function in mind. Oh, and someone needs to test it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money Received this as a gift and as others said it doesn’t work. I have to use a strip of Saran Wrap and wrap it along he open side to stop stuff from flying out. You have to make sure the plastic wrap doesn’t hit the moving paddle though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pouring shield is ineffective Recently purchased a kitchenaid mixer and some extras. The pouring shield was a major disappointment as flour still came out over the edges of the bowl and spout. It does not fit onto the bowl properly and slips off during mixing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I bought the pouring shield to go with my new mixer. I find it an essential tool to avoid dry ingredients to poof out of the bowl while mixing. It comes in very handy when adding ingredients slowly to the bowl. It's a bit flimsy and does not snap into place. You place it on the bowl. For the most part it does not move, only when mixing thick, heavy ingredients.
