Overview

Model # KVUB400GSS Store SKU # 1001170121

For cooks who have more to make but less undercounter space, this Perimeter Ventilation hood clears the air edge-to-edge with a powerful 400 CFM Class motor, yet with a low profile that leaves room for culinary exploration. Whisper Quiet® System maintains a hushed 0.1 sones (43 dBA) at low speed. Heat-sensor-enabled Auto Speed Setting helps busy cooks keep their cool.

  1. Low profile design affords more space between the bottom of the hood and the cooking surface. The visible portion of the hood extends just 2-3/8-inch below the cabinetry above it, enabling ventilation even in limited spaces and offering more room for creativity
  1. 400 CFM delivers powerful ventilation performance to clear the air even for high-temperature cooking techniques like stir-frying in a wok
  1. Perimeter ventilation increases ventilation system efficiency by pulling air from the edges of the hood and speeding up the movement of air at the center, allowing it to efficiently handle up to a 65000-BTU total output
  1. Whisper Quiet System suppresses fan noise with its efficient airflow and covered underside so you can stay focused on your cooking without distraction (performance varies based on installation)
  1. Auto speed setting takes the guesswork out of protecting cabinets from steam, grease, and moisture by automatically adjusting fan speed to ventilation needs depending on the heat being produced
  1. Auto Turn On helps protect your cabinets from damage by automatically turning the vent on when it senses the presence of heat
  1. 3-Speed Electronic Glass Touch Control with Boost Function provides precise electronic control with visual feedback on settings and selections
  1. Two LED taks lights help you fully utilize the extra cooktop workspace afforded by the hood's Low Profile Design. Brilliant dual LEDs let you keep a sharp eye on the back burner, and provide a convenient Night Light low setting
  1. Dishwasher safe grease filters reduces steam, grease, and odor to help avoid contact with ceilings and countertops

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet, effective, very sleek and minimalist [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Must install hood BEFORE tiling backsplash - lower portion of hood will not align with portion in the cabinet if lower portion is not fully back to the sheet rock of the wall. Installation requires patience to follow directions carefully as it is not as simple as attaching a few screws. The bottom panel of the cabinet is cut out. The end result is quiet and sleek and very effective. Lighting is excellent but the manual does state the bulbs have to be changed by a technician. My review would be five stars if installation was easier.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could be better product (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) During the installation I discovered that the flap was installed the wrong way, namely opposite and upon air flow it blocked the pipe. Had to reverse it manually. Second and most irritating is that after few month the motor started creating screeching and whining noise when it was put to Medium speed. I'm a loyal client to Kitchenaid and this is second product that made me think properly before I buy Kitchaid product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The vent hood is extremely quiet. I really like the auto fan feature. If there is any criticism it is that the controls are too sensitive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a change [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took out a useless microwave with a recycling exhaust fan and installed the new kitchen aid fan. Normally I do not read instructions, but I found these very helpful. The hardest part was cutting out the the bottom of the existing cabinet and the hole in the top for the vent pipe. Even so I had the unit in and through the ceiling in about an hour and a half. I put in the pipe and insulated it to the roof. I chickened out about cutting a hole in my roof and spent a week trying to find a roofer to put on the roof vent. I can now cook bacon inside and even use the wok without stinking up the house. It was definitely worth the effort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tricky install, performs great Kitchen Aid Range Hood Glad to have bought all Kitchen Aid appliances finally. The Range Hood, as with the others I’d well designed with common sense features, with a few improvements the Range Hood would be easier to install. Firstly the power cord would be best connected at the side of the unit, current position at top was inconvenient for install & location. Secondly the installation bracket segment of the installation instructions is incorrect, position 3 did not work for my 5/8 cabinet so I used position 4 as if it were 3/4 & still needed the washers. The description for step 3 on page 11 is brief but not wrong, the illustration unfortunately confounds everything. Contrary to the illustration I had to notch the bottom of the back of the cabinet so the bracket could be installed higher with the flat section at the base of the lower bracket just beneath the cabinet side panel edges as in pic after install as in pic. I had to remove & redo bracket location 4 times dry fitting everything with the cabinet off the wall to ensure a snug fit. The 4 hooks to suspend the unit until final positioning completed is ingenious but of course complicated the equipment & therefore this part of the installation. Hope this helps!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Sleek Ergonomic Profile--Ouchless Corners (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Generally Love all Kitchenaid products. The ONLY downside to this particular range hood was the difficulty of installation. Because it fits into a very small space, my husband ended up redoing EVERYTHING (ie. the old range hood was a different brand and the venting configuration was entirely different). He had to redo: inside venting, outside air venting duct (which required drilling a new hole in the stucco), cabinetry (both size of cabinet and outside facing of cabinet), drywall, electrical socket location. LOVE this product but it was a pain in the axe to install. Recommend it highly if you are hiring a professional to install. Not for the casual OR even the journeyman do-it-your-selfer. Would have given it 5 stars if not for this. Sound levels are nicely low, but you have to do the duct work correctly!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Install problems the side brackets for a 30 inch cabinet will not work. the hood is 26 inches wide. So if put the bracket as told on inside flush the space between the two bracket are more than 26 inches. I have seen other reviews to add shims . which I will do. plus will have to cut the bracket at the back to make them fit to go up into the cabinet. This is so uncalled for your company to design it to have to do all these things to fix. Maybe you have put brackets for a 36 inch cabinet in the 30 inch box. I am not one to complain. This is to help you all to fix the problem. I will call when I finish this to see if you have a bracket that will work

Asked by: John
My guess is either 3000K or 3500K at least. Definitely not 2700K. I am going to look into possibility of exchanging the light for 2700K.
