Rated 1 out of 5 by from We cannot wait to replace this refrigerator We purchased this model, as our space was limited. We are fans of KitchenAid small appliances and felt this would be a reliable investment. Boy were we disappointed. Organization in refrigerator - difficult to organize food and keep it clean. Shelves don't adjust down the middle like most fridges, so you are stuck with an entire shelf at one height. The split shelves feature is awkward and can jam up. Drawers - for a KitchenAid product, I was extemely disappointed with the drawers. They can jam up and are difficult to open. Other refrigerators we have looked at have much smoother drawer guides. Door - unless you are conscientious the french door can remain open a bit. The door open alarm is helpful as long as you are in the room to hear it. I will not be purchasing a french door style again. Water dispenser - we went with the interior water dispenser as we wanted the clean look of the outside of the refrigerator. We find that the interior dispenser can stick on, often overflowing your glass. We have gotten used to stopping the fill process at about 3/4 of a glass in order to not overfill and spill water. Ice maker - again we went with the interior ice tray as we wanted the clean look of the outside of the refrigerator. The wire shut off arm has come apart 5 times. Thank goodness the first few times I have had my husband or son at home to help me fix it. The process is painful to correct 1. Empty the entire contents of the freezer 2. Unscrew the door 3. Once the door is removed, you can now get the drawers removed. 4. Reach into the freezer to fix the arm. Left unrepaired, the icemaker continues to make ice until it forces open the freezer door. Ice is everywhere. The quick fix (if I don't have the help to remove the door and drawers) is to turn off the water. However, you can hear the pump working to try and fill the ice tray with water repeatedly. We are counting down the days until we can replace it.

In December of 2017, we purchased a full line of Kitchenaid Stainless Steel appliances for $5K (fridge similar to this one, oven, microwave, dishwasher). We LOVE the function of the appliances and have not had ANY issues other than cosmetic. Every single one is rusting. I noticed it around one year later. When I would clean them, the rag was starting to turn yellow. This became more and more prominent and then you could see hundreds of small rust spots which every so slowly began to grow. I called Kitchenaid in May of 2019 and despite the issue not being covered, they sent someone out who verified that “Yes, that’s a lot of rust!” and did not believe there was any reason to believe we were at fault. Kitchenaid replaced both doors on the refrigerator, but understandably the other appliances were not such an easy fix. After MANY phone conversations and lots of suggestions of what I could try, they eventually told me replacing the doors on the fridge was a “good faith gesture,” but as all the appliances are rusting, they believe the problem is due to “the environment” they are being kept in. They admitted that their stainless steel is not actually completely stainless steel. They believe something has caused the protective coating that keeps the metal from rusting to be removed, causing the rust. They suggested numerous reasons as to how that could have happened. The humidity in “their environment” is too high. The appliances are in my kitchen, in a home in the middle of the midwest, not on a back porch or outdoor kitchen or even in a southern state where the humidty is higher. They suggested that perhaps I leave food out for too long and that has affected the “environment.” They suggested that the chlorine level in my water might be too high and that I should contact my city and start using bottled water to clean the appliances. The only time I ever used anything other than the Kitchenaid cleaner was when they sent me something else to try and those instructions stated to wipe off with water when I applied the treatment. They suggested I used lemon juice. We do have another stainless steel refrigerator. In the same house. Cleaned the same way. Over 10 years old. And NO RUST. It’s a Kenmore. A stainless steel wine fridge. No idea how old that is, but much older than the Kitchenaid appliances. NO RUST. A stainless steel toaster. 4 years old. No rust. Ultimately, I’m very disappointed that we upgraded to a brand that is well known for quality and are now stuck with perfectly functional, but rusting appliances.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good features poor materials Fridge freezer door seals are cracking and wearing out(can see the magnet strips). Fridge was bought Jan 2016 ... spoke with KitchenAID cust service. They offered free parts but only if we pay for installation(offered to install myself - they withdrew free parts offer) ... what happened to products that a company is proud to fully back ?? not sure what they use in their rubber compound - perhaps they need anew supplier ...Figure on replacing Internal plastic parts as well, drawers/support panels etc ... don't stand up to family wear and tear ..either pay top dollar for the very best ! or go low end knowing it will be replaced - the quality in this this mid-upper range appliance has been sacrificed!!

I have a small kitchen and had to find a refrigerator that would fit in a compact space. I prefered Kitchen Aid products because I had several of their appliances already and have had no problems with them. Thanks, Home Depot and Kitchen Aid
