I two sets of trash cans and both of them came in and the one I was able to put together and the other one I could only partially put together it’s missing the handle and the two plastic covers the lock down the the rails. So that’s why I’m going to give it three stars. I to find out if I can purchase the three missing part.

Pros: - pretty easy to install, as long as you don't need to move any shelves and you have a cabinet wide enough to accommodate the trash cans which sit sideways (make sure you measure first) - two separate containers make it easy to have one trash and one recycle container - can be attached to the cabinet door, or leave your door as-is (hinged) and the kit includes a handle to pull out the trash cans (if you want it to be attached to your cabinet door you will need to buy a separate kit to attach the sliding part to your cabinet door Cons: - each can is really small. We have had pull-outs before that were larger, these aren't going to hold very much - this kit doesn't include the hardware needed to attach it to your cabinet door, you have to purchase it separately [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a great product, especially if you are retrofitting existing cabinets. Installation is super easy, requiring just a few screws on the base. The included cans hold a good bit, smaller than a stand-alone kitchen can, but much larger than a vanity trash can. That said, there are no lids, so you'll want to empty them more frequently anyhow. The glides have a soft-close feature which I was not expecting, but was a nice touch. A few things to consider: * If your sink cabinet floor is not flush with the door frame, you may need to place two thin strips under the mounting frame so the glides clear the frame. * Check to make sure you have enough room under the sink. Most times it gets a bit crowded if you have a disposal and dishwasher hose/wiring. I could only place it on one side. * If your sink base has a center stile, it may be a tight fit. We currently have a 30" sink base and I had to trim a small portion to make it fir. If you have a 33" or better you should not have a problem. It's a well built product that I expect will last for years. I'll be remodeling our kitchen soon and intend to move it to the new cabinet at that time. Rated 5 out of 5 by Pete from SUMMARY: A NICE TRASH CAN SET, JUST MAKE SURE IT WILL FIT. BACKGROUND: We wanted to put a pull-out trash can in our BnB kitchen, so I requested the Knape & Vogt to install in the counter next to the sink. DESIGN, FIT, AND FINISH: The design is simple, two wire rack holders for the plastic trash cans mounted on a soft drawer pull that screws to the bottom of the cabinet. The construction is minimalist but study. INSTALLATION: The instructions were simple with sufficient drawings to demonstrate the installation procedure. Very simple to install; four screws attach the assembly to the bottom of the cabinet, or a shelf. I recommend drilling pilot holes, especially if your cabinets are made of particle board. Make sure the cabinet door will close completely when you set the hardware in place. I recommend placing the rack in the cabinet, putting a small spacer in front of it, then closing the cabinet door to make sure you have proper clearance. During assembly of the system Knape & Vogt provide two plastic retaining clips to hold the trash can wire racks into the brackets. The clips were too small to snap into the side rails. They were so small they actually fell out during use. However the wire rack brackets snap securely around the racks so they felt sturdy during use. I operated the system MANY times to see if the racks would pop loose. Even with aggressive pulling they stayed firmly in place. I could not install the system where I wanted to because there was a shelf that wasn’t removable. That was a failure on my part. “Measure twice, cut once.” OPERATION: The system is easy to use. Open the cabinet door, pull the trash can out on the sliders, put the trash in, push the trash cans back in. The self-close / soft close mechanism doesn’t engage until the last couple of inches of travel, so you have to put the slider back until it engages. There is one thing about the soft-close that might be a little annoying. It takes a couple of seconds to retract. If you have self-closing cabinet doors you may be able to engage the trash can closer and then close the cabinet door against it and they can both close together, but the drawer slide may SUMMARY: Good design, works well, make sure you measure for fit. PROS: Easy to install. Easy to operate. CONS: Retaining clips too small to lock. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Soft close is nice and double containers. I must admit the instructions weren't as clear as they could be, so it took me quite a bit longer than I expected to figure out some basic stuff like which frame is front and which is the back (a tag would help). Then, after a few reads through the instructions and some floor modeling there is a statement indicating which side of the frame has holes for the slider to fit through, there's only one orientation for that to work. During one of the final steps I had to bend the tabs out slightly, so I could snap the cage in place. Otherwise, everything else was smooth. The bins are a little smaller than what I currently use, but they don't have lids, so I'd rather move open trash out of the kitchen sooner (before it starts to smell). Recycle is convenient, I'll dump it directly into my recycle bin at the road on pickup day, rather than throwing piece by piece into the large bin in the garage. These will make trash/recycle more efficient because of the smaller more convenient size. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Can this unit be mounted to the cupboard door?  Are there lids available for the bins?  I don't want my house full of garbage smell!

Yes, this unit can be mounted to a cabinet door by adding part # PDMKTPT, which is also available on homedepot.com. You can find the correct lid with part # QT35LB-R-PT, which you will need 2 each, one for each waste bin.
