Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I purchased 6 of the elongated toilets and soft closed seats. No one over 170 pounds has used the toilets. Some are seldom used. I have had 3 of the seats crack in same areas as others have commented--The first one cracked with in the first year of installation. I just noticed that another seat has a crack near the front but on the underside of the seat. I noticed that there is an imperfection line on the top of the seat above the area of the crack. I had the same situation with two of the cracks in other seats. This toilet has been used perhaps 2 dozen times since installation. Kohler quality is not like it should be and like it used to be.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracked seats and sticking flush mechanism We built a new house 4 years ago and put in 4 Kohler Toilets. Within the second year the powder bath 1 seat cracked, another guest bath has hairline cracks and is not far from breaking, a third seat has the plastic layers peeling off and 3 of the 4 toilets no longer refill without having to lift the lid and push the float back down. We have used Kohler in every residential and commercial project we've done for years but the quality over the past few years is gone. Of course the warranty is out. There are so many cracking seats that there is an obvious design problem and should be replaced.

I would never have thought that a toilet seat could make such a difference. We dumped wooden seats, which seemed to catch every splatter without fail, to these, which have made even the splatter nearly non-existent. It has something to do with the design/angle of the seat itself, I suppose. It is one of the best purchases I've made. The quiet close feature, which I didn't think I would care about one way or the other, has won me over. I know this a lot of commotion about a commode seat, but this one deserves it. I total recommend this to anyone. It will be money well spent. Oh, and by the way, it's super easy to install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seat will crack, just a matter of when. Installed this unit about two years ago and it had been a good seat for taking care of business. About 6 months ago cracks began to appear on the underside of the seat. It's still hanging int there but the cracks are growing and it's just a matter of time before the seat fails. We're of average height and slender, so it's not due to excessive loads. Of course Kohler stands behind the product for one year. Plan on it lasting just about that. I shared my experience with Kohler through their website but to date, I have heard nothing back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quick Release works too well The quick release feature releases the toilet seat far too easily. The seat repeatedly becomes loose with use and the design foils any attempt to tighten the seat. Another gripe is that if you sit on the plastic lid when it is closed, it is so flimsy that the lid will dent under your weight. It pops back out when you get up, but this is a disappointment at this price. The quiet close feature works well, but there are other quiet close lids at Home Depot that are made better and at a lower price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very low quality, poor design This seat was purchased to replace the seat on our year old leaking Kohler toilet. After replacing the tank gasket, we purchased the new seat for $40. The seat's quick release mechanism is very cheap and of questionable specs since tightening the hardware will result in prematurely spreading the plastic quick release mechanism. The cheap plastic cap is supposed to close and maintain the connection. The result is a loose seat. I asked my plumber about the product and he said return it and buy another brand. It won't last and the quick release, though a good idea, does not secure the seat. What happened to Kohler's quality???

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just wiggles I mean seriously how freaking hard is it to make a toilet seat that bolts down properly? It is so frustrating. I was replacing my cheap plastic screw toilet seat that came with my toilet and bought this. I screwed in and the one of the left separates when I tighten so the seat just stays loose so it's worthless and now I have to return it. I just want to buy a freaking toilet seat that actually bolts down and stays with no wiggle. I mean how freaking hard can it be to make a toilet seat with the right hardware to keep a toilet seat in place? So frustraing.

It is NOT comfortable to sit on. The seat rim slopes too much to the inside of the toilet. Both myself and my husband dislike it. If I still had the original packaging, I would return it. But since I don’t have that I am stuck with it. Otherwise, I love the quiet close feature and the grip tight bumpers. It was easy to install. We purchased the Kohler Cimarron comfort height toilet and this seat to go on it. I decided on this Kohler seat because of their reputation for quality. But I have been very disappointed with this seat.

Do I have to buy the seat separatly or does it come with lid and seat

Asked by: Jose
It comes (as you see it) with lid and seat. Self closing lid and seat can be removed by two fingers. Easily done. Penny

Asked by: cuervo
I don't think they are the same. You should look at the dimensions that should be listed on the item description. I purchased this as a replacement for the same item. The toilet itself is a fairly new (6 years old) one so if you've got an older toilet this seat might be too long. Hope this helps!

what is the difference between the elongated "grip-tight" toilet seat and the elongated quiet-close seat?
Asked by: David
The "grip-tight" has extra molding in the bottom of the seat which tends to grip the toilet as you move about on the seat. Most seats will slide side to side.

I can’t tell if my toilet is Almond or Biscuit. It’s definitely the one closer to white. Which one is that?
Asked by: Pam
i got a biscuit toilet with the biscuit seat, but it was too uncomfortable so hax had to get another brand seat, which is almond. Doesn't match but the kohler seat was horribly uncomfortable. Good luck.

I had this seat for a few weeks, is there some way to prevent the seat from falling down while using? I have tried reinstalling it and nothing help!

Asked by: Barrkie
Since I am not there looking at your set up, my guess is that your tank is setting too far forward or the tank lid is too large. Either of these scenarios will not allow the seat to fold back as far as it is designed to do.

Do they fit on Cimarron elongated toilet ?
Asked by: Butch
Yes, the industry has settled on only two standard size toilet bowls, round and elongated. This seat will fit any modern elongated toilet bowl.
