After lots of research we decided on the clearflo adjustable pop-up drain. It is constructed of solid brass for durability and the finish matches perfectly with the Kohler Forte Vibrant Brushed Nickel fixtures we also purchased from Home Depot and Home Depot.com, including the multifunction handshower and the tub faucet. Now that we are remodeling our guest bath we, of course, purchased the same model Kohler pop-up drain from Home Depot.com.

What is the best method to remove pop-up cover to clean drain due for deeper cleaning?????

Hi Kay, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I'm glad to answer your question. To remove the stopper assembly with horizontal rod, please view the installation instructions here: https://www.us.kohler.com/webassets/kpna/catalog/pdf/en/1221144_2.pdf. You can first close the drain (using the overflow handle) and stop the stopper from closing entirely (using your finger or a flat blade screwdriver to stop it. Once the drain is in the "closed" position, you can remove the stopper by pulling it out by hand. To re-install, simply slide the horizontal rod back in the drain with the stopper. The Kohler Clearflo product is designed to fit their tubs that have pronounced slope on the plumbing end of their tub. When you view the control part of the pop-up assembly notice the thickness of the bottom of the chrome piece compared to the top, when viewing it from the side, that is so the control knob can match the angle of the tub. Not knowing the shape of the 5' tea tub, there is no way I can recommend it. If you're looking for a quality product with brass Kohler makes other products that should work.
