Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful tub! I bought this for a master bath remodel I had been dreaming about for 7 years. Wonderful tub! Very deep so it is a good soaking tub and the side ledges make wonderful armrests as I read in the tub at the end of a long day. The drain is not included which was a surprise and the drain shown in the picture is a $200 Kolher drain. I would have given it 5 stars except for the drain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Soaking Tub! So glad I decided on this drop-in tub when remodeling my bathroom. It is nice and deep and the built in arm rest add extra comfort and support. Another nice feature is all the space built into each corner which is nice for soaps, candles and a cup of coffee! It fit into my budget nicely but looks as good as some of the higher priced tubs I considered. Very pleased!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This tub is beautiful, the depth and arm rests are great features. While I truly enjoy the depth and look of this tub, the drawback is the length. It states the length is 60" which is true for the outside dimension. The inner oval is roughly 52" long and being as I am 5'2" I thought it would seem large to me. It feels a little short but I would definitely use the same tub in my other baths if remodeling again. The look is striking and gives a 'grotto' effect with matching hued slate tiles.

This one was a bit more expensive than the cast iron one I was eyeing and I have both. This is definitely deep for my short self (5'0") that I find myself having fun submerging myself. It does feel a bit plastic, but it doesn't feel like it would tear or chip easily. One thing I was worried about is that if it will retain soap scum in the middle of the tub. This could occur because of the contractor's skill or the tub itself. In this case, I had a good contractor and no soap scum accumulates within a month. I usually clean my bathtub once a month since I get scared so i can't determine when it will start to accumulate. It is a sturdy plastic and as long as you check before buying for any chipped parts, you should be good. My contractors did that for me before they installed it as I wasn't sure if it was chipped or not. I'm super happy with my purchase and kind of wish I had bought it for another bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Great tub once everything is installed correctly. Quality is great but you can see in some places that the fiberglass is too thin. The biggest problem was the drain . Also leveling the tub was a difficult, had to use two thin plastic shims on two corners. There are two different drains made for this tub, one is plastic/cable operated and the other is brass and metal lever/spring assembly inside it. I went with the brass one and it is terribly frustrating getting the rod length and drain height adjusted correctly. The instructions are worthless to some degree and it just takes ALOT of trial and error. I spent and hour+ installing/adjusting the drain to the tub before tub installation to figure it out and get it close. Then after the tub was installed it took another hour+ just for adjustment not installation. You literally have to assemble and dissemble over and over, took me about 15 tries to get it decent. You could get the brass drain and a normal manually operated valve and get rid of all the linkage junk but it's expensive and shouldn't have all those issues. There may be other soaker tub drains that would work with the tub but the angle might not be correct where it bolt to the overflow. Leveling the tub was difficult because one of the legs that needed a shim was the hardest to reach with the tub installed. Getting the right size shim was difficult because they were so small. I used liquid nails instead of a bed of mortar. I insulated the bottom of the tub with 1' Styrofoam so the bed of mortar was not possible. I wanted to insulate the tub from the cold concrete . I also insulated all around the tub with R-19 insulation, it stays warm for a good while, I really think it helped. I used this tub as opposed to the one with the built in apron because I thought it would look better and also since my bathroom is the width of the tub getting an apron tub in place without ripping out a lot of sheet rock seemed impossible. The old tub had to come out in pieces, specifically one corner of the apron broken off where it hit a wall stud. Overall, now that it's in place and the tile work is done the whole family is really enjoying it, it really makes the small bathroom a lot nicer. Just in case any one was curious, those are two 1/4' glass recessed shelves. I had the glass cut 24" wide and 3.5" deep(wall stud depth). Recess is made of hardi backer, waterproof membrane, and of course tile. 100 percent silicone sealing the glass/holding the shelves to the tile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good This is a handsome tub once you get it installed. I had a contractor but they struggled for 2 days to install the drain finally after much effort he got the drain to line up. He used the acrylic drain. KOHLER should make a drain for this tub.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Devonshire Tub A client ordered this tub to replace a sunken oval tub. First off, the dimensions listed have this tub at an assembled depth of 60 inches. That is the assembled LENGTH. 5 feet would make for an extremely deep tub. The depth is 18 inches. When installed at grade, the homeowner is required to step up 18 inches and over the side to get in the tub. If installed below grade, the step over the edge would be shorter, but then unsafe as the floor of the tub would be below the level of the floor. Allows for a nice deep soak.

What will the height of the surround be when I install this?

What will the height of the surround be when I install this?
Asked by: blueskye
If you look at the specification link, page 2, it shows 18-1/2" minimum between the floor and the bottom of the tub's lip. That's the minimum height your surround can be. I installed this at my house and wanted a higher surround so I built a platform with 2x6s and 1/2" plywood to support the tub. I ripped down the 2x6s some so I don't recall the exact dimensions, but here's what it looks like.

When tiling the wall right next to this tub, can the tile go flush, right on top of the tub top? Or is it rounded to be dropped in and have a ledge next to it, then wall/tile? Thanks
