First off, the handheld interior parts are all plastic It also has a severely restricted waterflow even though the unit states it's a 2.5 gpm. Secondly, the shower and diverter handles are very loose and wobbly. Not expected given the high price point and Kohler's penchant for quality products. I have used Kohler shower systems in other bathrooms and have not encountered the poor quality of the Purist line.

There is no doubt that Kohler's quality of materials and manufacturing processes are excellent. This trim set is well made and easy to install. However, it requires careful planning and selection of the proper rough-in materials. Of particular importance is proper length of the pipe nipples used for the shower head and tub filler. If you are a DIYer completing an installation, know that pipe nipples are usually available in 1/2" increments, but they are not always available at big box stores in those lengths. You may have to visit a plumbing supply store to purchase parts to complete your install.

Now there's no way to "unpush" it. Replacement trim isn't compatible with the valve, so we have to replace everything. A real pain. NOT elegant.

It does not even include the valve that was specified "included" in the spec. Basically, it is a low quality control process in the shipping. I am very disappointed with homedepot.com with wrong information and poor quality control. Will probably never buy from homedepot.com again.

K-11748-K (standard) or K-11748-KS (has screwdriver stops on each side to turn off water at the valve instead of turning off water to the room).

Can this be installed without the tub spout (shower-only setup)?

tub and shower faucet

I am interested in purchasing the Kohler Purist Single-Handle tub/shower trim in brushed nickel...BUT I also need the nickel drain and the lever above it that shut the drain so you can fill the tub. What do you recommend.
