Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Excellent Like the other reviewer, I had to wait awhile to be convinced that a 1.28 gallon flush would work. We get some "big people" through our house. But this thing works great. Also, being an all in one piece toilet, with all of the flushing mechanism already installed, all you have to do is remove the old toilet, set this one down, hook up the water and you're good to go....so to say. I have another bathroom to remodel, and will definitely get another one of these. Hint for easy install: Get the "SharkBite" 90 degree turn valve for your source water if you have a stuck or poor water valve. Yeah they cost a list a little more but are well worth it.

The toilet is good quality overall, and it was easy to install; even with the extra weight of the one piece design. The toilet seat can be quickly removed just by raising the hinged hardware cover on the back of the seat and pulling forward; makes cleaning even easier. The seat is not the best quality though. Another minor issue is the tank cover has some slop in the fit, allowing the cover to be pushed back slightly. This wouldn't be much of an issue, but it exposes the tank lip which doesn't have the shiny glaze finish applied and it's noticable. Overall I'm happy with the purchase but Kohler could have done better on the issues I've mentioned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Efficient The flush is the best part. The AquaPiston Flush Engine is quick and quiet. And I am glad we chose the 1.28 one-flush toilet. I have stayed at hotel's with the two-flush option toilets, but I find the two-flush to be very inefficient and I would have to flush more wasting water. The 1.28 GPF and the one-flush overall is very efficient. For installation, I was concerned about the overall weight, so I aligned and centered it using 4x4's, then stepped it down to 2x4's, and with the help of my spouse was able to ease it in and get it installed with no issues. Overall, I like having a one piece, and plan to get another for our second bathroom.

Just like many others - the top rim of this toilet - where the lid meets the tank - is unsightly! It looks completely unfinished and your eye goes right to it. Again - like many others - it was installed before I noticed - and now what to do? Has anyone tried to paint this rim so that it looks more polished and complete. I'm quite shocked Kohler is still selling it like this. The rest of the toilet is fine - works like a toilet should. But I can't get over the discolored, unfinished portion - not to mention a nick/imperfection on the tank as well. The pictures don't do it justice - it's worse in person :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toilet with a unique flush valve and performance Although more costly, this one-piece toilet is attractive, easy to clean, and, most importantly, flushes well. The flushing mechanism is not the normal flapper-valve, but a 3 1/4" cylinder that when lifted by the external handle quickly dumps the flush water in a short and efficient burst. Not only that the flush handle has two positions. Just tapping it releases a relatively small amount water suitable for flushing urine. Holding the handle down all the way for a second releases all the water to remove solids very efficiently. It's also extremely quiet and refills quickly. Great design and it looks very good. Big thumbs up!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should have listened to the other reviews I haven't even flushed it yet but am disappointed. A number of other reviewers noted the bad glazing on the top of tank. None-the-less I bought 3 for my house and the first one just got installed. Dummy me for buying it but I figured not all the toilets could be bad, right? I've emailed Kohler and sent them pictures will see if they do anything about it. The problem is that there aren't many 1 piece alternatives available from Kohler so may have to change to another brand. I'd rather not change since the bathtub and 5 sinks in the house are all Kohler but this is going to bug me every time I see it and I don't want to spend $600 for a toilet. $300 should have been enough.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking Tank Bought it from Home Depot in its original sealed box. The water from the tank started leaking after installing it. After 10 days Kohler send me a replacement flush seal. That did not fix the problem. Now another 10 days and I am still waiting for the complete flush system to arrive. Kohler turned down my request for free expedited shipping for this second part as its over a month now and the toilet cannot be properly used. Quite deceiving so far even though in the tank its says" leak tested". This initial negligence and lack of adequate warranty support are quite disappointing for a brand name like Kohler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow I installed the Santa Rosa toilet 2 weeks ago, tried my darnedest to clog it....so far the best flushing toilet I have EVER had. I have a small bathroom where this fits just perfect. I was worried after reading some reviews about the toilet seat which comes with it, and thought about buying a wood seat, but after the time I have used it can't complain about the seat that came with the toilet. I installed the toilet with a "Sani seal gasket" instead of the normal wax seal.....it was so easy I was worried that I did something wrong....so far it has worked well....no leaks. Seriously thinking of replacing my other bathroom toilet with this model toilet

Whats the difference between the Kohler Santa Rosa model K-10491-0 and model K-3810-0 besides price?

I’m just pasting the same response that I did to a different question about this model, but it happens to answer yours as well. Yes, according the MaP Test Report it does, because both model numbers you were asking about are the same product. If you go to the MaP Testing Results it happens to say so there. I’m in the middle of researching which Kohler to get, and everywhere I read said to never buy a toilet that has not been MaP Tested and Received a score of 800 - 1000 (1000 is the highest score) — the scores are in terms of flushability (not sure that’s a word lol). But I’m in my car doing research right this moment, so I happen to have my PDF print out of all the MaP Tested Kohler Models, and according to them, it says, “Brand Name—Kohler • Model Name—Santa Rosa EL ADA (one-piece) • Model Number—K-3810 (one-piece); NOTE: this fixture is also sold as K-10491 and K-98993 when included as part of ‘COMPLETE SOLUTION’ package.” The MaP Report also lists another Santa Rosa model—K-3811(one-piece) that they tested. And that specific model (K-3811) is pretty much exactly the same as the (K-3810) in everything, same name and features, same MaP Score, WITH THE ONE DIFFERENCE BEING: That it has a 1.6 gpf Tank, whereas the (K-3810/K-10491/K-98993) has a 1.28 gpf Tank. Both of the Santa Rosa Models that we’re tested received the highest score available of 1000. Hope that helps!

How do i get this toilet to stop leaking from the tank to the bowl

It leaks slowly since we installed it and we have tried replacing the seal already it is so frustrating to have a new toilet that does not work
Asked by: Notafan
The toilet is a one-piece unit. There is no break, no seal between the tank and bowl. Are you certain you have picked the correct model? Is water coming over the top of the tank? I'm confused by your question.
