There were three Villager bathtubs available at my local Home Depot, all of them had problems with the enamel finish. Within the lumpy and uneven finish there were multiple small but deep pits through the enamel exposing the cast iron. (see pictures) These are not specs of iron in the finish, they are divots and pits and some pits go deep enough to expose the base metal. If you're considering this tub carefully check the entire tub for problems before installing because, the quality control at Kohler is nonexistent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What We Were Looking For Replaced an existing tub in our older home. Most new tubs are a bit bigger and would not have fit. This one was just the right size. Price was great and the cast iron we were looking for. Not much fun bringing it upstairs, but we managed with some help. Nice that it was delivered to our house. However, I thought they were going to call us when it was coming so we could try to be home then. They didn't. My wife came home from work one day and there it was in the middle of the driveway near the garage door. Limited packaging too. Some crating boards on the top and bottom; that's it. When I saw that I was concerned about damage, but fortunately there wasn't any. Overall very satisfied, especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty and beautiful tub This tub replaced a builder's steel tub when we remodeled because we wanted to have a tub that would last. This tub was over 300 lbs and we were amazed how the contractors attached it to a dolly and brought it up to the 2nd floor. The tub itself looks nice. The surface texture being a little bumpy doesn't bother me. The main issue was finding an appropriate tub door since the tub has a narrow part of the ledge that has a 2-1/2" threshold minimum for a tub door. The best tub door we found is one that has an L shaped rail that rests on the ledge. It is a semi-frameless bypass tub door because we wanted both doors to be able to slide. Be sure to keep the non-slip surface clean as dirt from dirty feet will stick to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Bath Tub Got this for our bathroom remodel. Love everything about it. I gave it an average for value because after buying it, I saw it for cheaper at plumbing/construction stores while I was shopping for tile. It took 4-5 men to get it up the stairs. Because it was soo very heavy, I also gave it an average rating for ease of installation. BUT, once it is in place, it is an awesome tub. Great value for a a solid cast iron tub. Nice shiny white color, seems to be easy to clean - but not sure as we just got it installed. Solid piece and looks lovely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware After purchasing tub and going to install it I noticed lack of porcelain around drain hole. Returned to Home Depot and had to go to 4 more stores to find one that looked good around drain. Purchased tub and started to install in vacant rental property. Had heart attack and didn’t work on it for months. When I returned the tub overflow area had rust. Tried to clean but stained. Called Kohler about warranty. That was a joke. They wanted to know if I stored it outside. (No) Then they said cast iron doesn’t rust. Looks like rust to me. (Ever see rusty cast iron pan? I have) then they said I didn’t install it correctly. (I should have used silicone around overflow hole when installing) I haven’t finished installing it yet because of the rust. They have all the excuses to not warranty it. Very Disappointed at this time because I have had great Kohler cast iron tubs from them in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bathtub! We had this tub installed during a bathroom renovation last year. It took four guys (heavy tub) to get it into position, a tight, awkward spot, but a perfect fit. This is a comfortable tub (the degree of slant near the back), it fills quickly due to design (tapered near the feet), and the cast iron holds the temperature effectively. In addition, we appreciate the low side height for ease in stepping in and out, and the non-slip surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality tub This is a great product for a really good price. The only issue is the weight, but it was totally worth the quality material for the difficult istallation. Tight spaces make it difficult, but the cast iron far surpases other tub materials. This tub will last longer than anything in my house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Sturdy Well Made Tub VILLAGER 5FT. LEFT-HAND DRAIN INTEGRAL APRON CAST IRON BATHTUB IN WHITE Tub is well made, very sturdy. Contractor remodeling bathroom highly recommended it versus non cast iron tub. Nice looking too with non slip addition built right into tub. Would recommend to friends and family.

My wall measures 58" wide can I put this tub into this space?
Asked by: RTally
This tub actually fits up against the studs, not the finished wall. What's the thickness of your finished wall to the stud? If it's 3/4" drywall the you can add 1-1/2" to your 58" measurement. The finished wall will extend over the drip edge of the tub deck that is flush with the stud. They put those instructions with the tub so you can't download them here. If you're still short that 1/2", then simply notch the studs 1/2" where the tub deck meets the stud (or a 1/4" notch on both ends). All you'll lose will be 1/2" of deck surface on one end but the tub will fit edge to edge.

Can the non skid be removed with a certain product or is it applied before the glaze?

Asked by: BusterRiggs
It applied after glaze. It is hard to remove without damaging to the shining. It is a great product, i really liked it.

Easy to get out of traditional tubs

Asked by: Ellen
This tub is primarily used by a 27 and 18 yo. There have never been any complaints over the year that we have have this tub. The tub height feels appropriate, and no one feels like they need to strain to get in or out. It does feel a little confining (narrow), but this could easily be because of where the shower curtain was hung, and nothing to do with the tub size.

Asked by: Alison
This is a small tub that works well for small bathrooms. You may want to took at a different model/brand because I don't think you are going to change the dimensions unless you're good with a blowtorch.
