Rated 2 out of 5 by from No quality control for this tub As part of a bathroom remodel, I ordered this tub thru the contractor's plumbing supplier. Since I had read reviews from other customers detailing defects in the finish of their tubs, we decided to check the tub as it was unloaded from the truck. The first tub had a blue mark in the finish on the bottom of the tub, and a scratch on the slip-resistant finish. I wouldn't accept it, so they called and had another one delivered within a short time. We checked this one, too, and it had two black divets in the finish. I didn't want to accept this tub either. But the plumber was standing nearby, and said that we could do this all day (ordering new tubs until we found one with no defects). Neither of these tubs should have left the Kohler factory. Very poor quality control. I wouldn't recommend buying this tub - look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I know I wanted to purchase a forever bathtub, so... I know I wanted to purchase a forever bathtub, so I put a lot of research and thought into my purchase. I replaced the original cast iron bathtub in my 1960 built home in 2006 with a cheap bathtub which began to rust out. The gloss on the tub is high. You will need at least two very strong individuals to lift this tub being that it is 300 lbs. I am very please with my purchase. Even though it is the same dimension as the previous tub the design make it look so much larger. The only problem I have is the slip resistance in the bottom of the tub it’s not stain resistant as it should be. I will still give 5 Stars because of the quality of the tub.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kohler tub Great quality and easy to install if you like to lift heavy tubs! We knew it would be heavy as it is cast iron. Wonderful for showers, but if you're looking for a soaking tub you have to go bigger. This is too shallow for soaking in. My wife is 5'2" and I am 5'8" and you cannot cover yourself in water without the water going down the overflow drain. That would be the only draw back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made to last I felt I should add my review after reading the other reviews. I had my Villager installed 10 years ago and it's still great. Cast iron tubs keep the water warm longer than other types. When I got my tub, there were some marks on it where the plastic wrap had some how heated up and put some brown marks on the tub (while the tub was being held in stock at the hardware store). However, I wasn't about to be deterred. I scrubbed those marks with everything I could find and finally got them out. Just as others have said, I got a lot of complaints from the installers, because they don't want to deal with such a heavy tub. It took 4 guys (250 to 300 pounds each) to install my tub. Imagine all those guys in my tiny 1950s era bathroom all at the same time! Ten years later, I still love my tub. It goes just fine with my 1955 rambler home. I don't know why anyone would have taken the original cast iron tub out of my bathroom, but it's back where it belongs. Thanks Kohler.

Why is there a lifetime warranty on the left hand drain but only a 10 year warranty on right hand drain?

Thank you for your inquiry. The recommended drain assemblies in the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish are the K-7213-2BZ (1-1-2' cable bath drain with PVC tee and pipe), K-7214-2BZ (1-1/2" cable bath drain wihtout PVC tee and pipe) or K-7259-2BZ (1-1/2" toe-tap bath drain. Toe-tap stopper actuation. Brass tee and pipe).

Hello, my name is Heather with Kohler Customer Service. I would be happy to answer your cast iron tub inquiry With K-716-96: Here are the installation instructions: 1. Make sure the subfloor is level. Provide drain access from below. Provide access to all plumbing connections. Observe all local building and plumbing codes. 2. Construct a plumb stud pocket according to the Roughing-in Guide (found on kohler.com) 3. Install the rough plumbing 4. Install the drain to the bath. Position a protective liner in the bath basin 5. With help, carefully move the bath into the stud pocket. Verify the bath is level 6. Connect the bath drain to the drain pipe 7. Make sure the bath is level, plumb and resting on all four feet. Install metal shims as needed 8. Install water resistant wallboard over the framing. Apply 100% silicone sealant along the seam 9. Install the finished wall and deck material to within 1/16” of the bath rim 10. Apply 100% silicone sealant around the bath along the finished walls and deck.
