Rated 1 out of 5 by from FAIL I have been using contact cement for decades and after using this I believe that it is time for Lepage's to admit defeat and go back to the old formula which worked great . This stuff, not so much .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow the directions Follow the directions/!! /!!! It isn't instant it has to "dry or it doesn't work".. I used to just try and use it without waiting.. The difference is amazing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed a shoe A few weeks ago the toe of my shoe, which waa otherwise in great condition, began to peel off. I bought this to glue it back. So far so good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LePage contact cement Great glue for variety of surfaces. Use as much as you can because once opened, the remainder will harden in the can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff I can't believe there are so many bad reviews. I guess people don't read instructions. This stuff sticks and doesn't come off. Make sure to cover both surfaces and give it 15 mins to dry before sticking together. Once the two sides touch, they don't move. Putting pressure works well even if only for a second. Porous things need a second coat after the first dries. If used correctly, this stuff is great! I've used it many times.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to get good adhesion Compared to the older style yellow contact cement that is easy to get it right everytime, this requires a lot more material prep and is more unforgiving, I followed all the directions and needed a second coat on most of the surface and I still got a poor adhesion. This was a fresh can as I had a 2 year old half full sealed can become gel and unusable..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works alright. I used this for laminating some kitchen shelves. The instructions say you can router it after you adhere the pieces but I found it was better to clamp the pieces for a few hours or overnight before doing anything. On the pieces I didn't clamp, the laminate seemed to "lift" from the surface and I could see a thin, airy layer of contact cement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good for shoe repairs I bought this to do some DIY shoe sole repairs. It did not stick at all. Furthermore, I've not had very good experiences with any LePage product. Glues that do not stick for the purposes they claim.

Can this product be used to put baseboard on a brick wall?

Asked by: Anne
Thank you for the question. LePage Heavy Duty Contact Cement may not be well suited for this application because of its liquid consistency, the possible condition of brick surfaces, and type of baseboard you are installing. Contact cements do not work well with very rough or irregular surfaces. You might consider a construction adhesive such as LePage PL Premium, LePage PL Premium MAX or possibly LePage No More Nails Wet Grab Adhesive as alternatives, depending on the type of baseboard you have.

Will it from a bond between OSB and rubber mat for my dog house?

Asked by: MAK01
Thank you for the question. LePage Heavy Duty Contact Cement can bond certain types of rubber so testing first is recommended. For both substrates, surface prep will be important. Because you are using OSB, you may need to apply two coats for the intended use described. The OSB should not be a rough surface.

Will this cement work with the MDF board and the Fabric ? I am trying to wrap the fabric around the 4ft by 8ft MDF sheet and then hang it on the ceiling, the fabric side down. I tried Lepage multipurpose glue that did not work, Fabric came off next day.

Asked by: Mandi
Thank you for the question. It may be possible to do depending upon fabric type and thickness. This is a liquid, solvent based product, and it can bond certain fabrics to wood. Because both surfaces are very porous you may need to apply two or more coats to both surfaces. Keep in mind, you should test for compatibility and suitable results on a small test area or piece first before starting the entire project since this is such a large surface area.

lepage contact cement , lifting

Placed a veneer onto a 1X4 table top,all went well, placed the table in my garage over night. The following morning there were multi strips that lifted 1/2' x 2 to 2'.Tried to roll them out .some did disapeared, placed the table into direct sun shine for 3 hrs. The veneer finally laid down ,rerolled it again, placed the table in my house over night ,the following moring the lifts were greatly reduced, but a few are still there. HELP
Asked by: Anonymous
how long did you wait after applying the cement to both surfaces to add the veneer? You should only wait until the glue is no longer wet to the touch. If you wait any longer it won't bond properly. Plus if you apply the veneer when it's wet, it won't bond properly. Did you use stickers (sticks) to keep the veneer off the cement and then roll out from the centre removing the sticks as you went? The only way to get bubbles or lifts to roll out is to make a tiny slit into the bubble, inject more adhesive, then clamp down with weights. What it sounds like is you have air trapped inside and it will never lay flat if you don't release the air.
