Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fixtures are being made cheaper. I like Leviton fixtures but they are making them cheaper. The screws that attach the fixtures to the rough in box heads strip before I could even tighten the fixtures to the box. The heads are much more shallower then the the older fixtures. Also the screws for the electrical wire were the same color.

What does “residential grade” mean as compared to other grades? Is it better or worse?
Asked by: Steve
It means it's for home use. That's why it's cheaper, might not last as long as 'commercial grade', but what do yo expect!!??

My rental has aluminum wiring are these receptacles OK to use

Asked by: Mike
The answer here may depend on the state that you live in. The easiest solution and probably the safest solution is to use copper pigtails (12 AWG for 20 amp devices and 14 AWG for 15 amp devices) with CU/AL rated wire nuts. These CU/AL wire nuts are more expensive but this is what you need to properly install these outlets. Piece of mind is priceless.

I checked online and it appears to be an American company tat has headquarters in both the US and Canada. I guess to make sure just check the receptacle when you buy it to see where it is made.

What is the difference between these and the $5 cheaper Decora outlets?

What is the difference between these and the $5 cheaper Decora outlets? Can you backstab 12 gauge wire on these? Are they better outlets?
Asked by: BeenthereDonethat
Quality is one. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for. The best outlets don’t have the holes for the wires in the back. The best way to connect to the switch and outlets are to use the screws. Then you should take Electrical tape and wrap over the screws all the way around it before putting back into the wall. This way it keeps things from touching screw heads and shorting out, should someone stick something in there a finger a screwdriver it lowers the risk of getting shocked. I’m not a big fan of fire, do you want to risk your home, shop or family. I lost my family home in a electrical fire when I was 11. We lost everything. No not because of outlet or switches that I know of. I was only 11. I just don’t take chances because of that. I hope this helps.

Can these be used with 12 gauge wire on a 20 amp breaker as long as I use the side screws? With the Outlet be safe using 12G wire instead of 14? The wiring to the kitchen outlets in all 12 Gauge wire with multiple outlet on a single circuit. The 20 Amp cost more and are harder to find. If 15-amp is safe I would prefer to use them.
Asked by: Southert
You can use these what the side wire without a problem. Just make sure you're not overloading your circuit. And as a side trick I suggest once they're wired put a piece of electric tape over both screws on both sides. Just a little trick to avoid getting shocked if the Circuit is hot as well is if the ground wire should accidentally come in contact
