Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Unit I purchased this AC unit 5 days ago. I have closed off a couple of rooms that do not need air conditioning and am keeping about 750 square feet cool. It is over 35 degrees outside and I can maintain a comfortable temperature of 22 inside. Also I should mention that I live in a very old house with really no insulation to speak of. When purchasing an air conditioner you have to realize that it is not going to cool your house down in a matter of minutes, it takes a bit. It is a little noisy as well, but most of them are. In my opinion this was a great purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great We purchased the LG Electronic 12000 BTU portable air conditioner July 15. Today is Monday and it is a hot day and the unit cools the room plus we added a large fan and it blows cool air into the living room. The downstairs is now more livable. Cons - heavy but rolls easily, it takes up floor space and the white hose is not the best to look at BUT it works and cools the room and that is so much more than we had. Plus - it works, my husband just said the kitchen is now to cold (LOL). I can easily remove the hose from window and move the unit when the weather is nice and we can enjoy the open windows. I am very please with the unit and glad we purchased it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works good - extremely noisy I bought this 2 weeks ago for my home office which has the heat of some 2 servers and my desktop PC and some smaller network devices. It works great in the space I have it (appro. 250-300 sq.ft). However, about 1 week aftr I started using it the compressor gets REALLY loud. So loud that I have had family members come into my office asking if everything is ok. It's a 4000 sq ft home and my sons bedroom is on the other side of the house and he heard it clearly. I am afraid it won't last much longer and am wondering if this should be returned/exchanged before warranty expires - I wear headphones so I can turn them up loud enough to drown out the noise but that is not ideal either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not bad, BUT, definitely not covering 400 sq.ft I am from Quebec city and summer 2018 is very very hot so far. We purchased this 12000 but LG unit for our bedroom (336 sq.ft.) because the unit says "coverage 400 sq.ft.". Like several other reviews here, this model DOES NOT properly cool the room as it is 25-30c outside and we cannot get the room to be lower than 22-21c. The unit is set to 16c (lowest value) and we cleaned the filters twice since purchasing it 3 weeks ago. It is away 36 in. from walls. Runs 24/24. Unfortunately, this LG unit at 12000 BTU is definitely not covering 400 sq.ft. Thinking about returning it to store....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WASTE OF MONEY!!! LASTED ONLY ONE SEASON!!! We bought this LG portable AC in May 2021 - used just one season. Went to turn it on this month (July 2022) and no cold air whatsoever!!! The compressor comes on but no cold air - just the fan ( Like the other reviewer)!! My cheap $129 window ac that we've had for 8 years still works and this thing dies after only one season? Come on LG what kind of junk are you selling people? This is completely unacceptable!!! Take responsibility and replace this unit if you stand by your name (Life is Good?? Not with this unit it's not!!!!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Now that Montreal Quebec is in a heatwave (01 July 2018), I can I honestly say that I am extremely pleased that I have purchased the LG 12,000 BTU air conditioner. I have 3 bed rooms on my top floor and between this air conditioner and another small window version, everyone is sleeping comfortably. The LG was purchased because the Danby 8,000 BTU was not cutting it. In normal weather conditions, I need to keep covers over me because the LG keeps the room cold (63 degrees fahrenheit was measured). Also, all the window hardware was much better quality than the Danby. I hate those who write bad reviews stating that the unit is too noisy, I and my wife have no issues. I have had noisier units in the window that shake the wall. Top marks for this brand and model, nice to purchase something that works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Defective Unit After about 5-10 minutes of running ice cold air, the unit switches to the fan mode, then shuts off completely. I called LG and their tech has said this is a defective unit and it should not be happening. This on/off type of thing is awful for power consumption & shortens the lifespan of the units. However, when it is running, the unit is solid & provides ice-cold air. Just a bummer that this is a constant on/off issue.. Could be caused by a variety of different issues, however I bought it brand new, so this shouldn't be happening. I saw a recent reviews saying the same thing, which is concerning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Impressions First Impressions: Typically, my space usually hovers around 27 degrees if its +31 outside, even with all the blinds/windows closed and fans going. I let this unit run while I was at work, the outside temp was 27 and it was sitting around 20 by the time I got home (way more comfortable). I'm not sure how it will fair on the Mid 30 days yet, but it has made a difference so far. Keep in mind that any indoor AC unit is going to be a bit noisy. However, even with the extra background noise, I haven't had to raise volume on the TV or stereo. So, first impressions are good! It has a sleek look as well. And trust me, I have to have mine in a super awkward position on my kitchen counter (only available window), and although its a bit of an inconvenience, its not an eye sore.

Work great but I have a concern about a noise that it makes about every 10 minutes. When running, there are a few different fan & compressor sounds that cycle on and off but every 10 minutes there's a very loud thumping noise, can be felt in the floor.

Asked by: Mike
Dear Customer Our unit is not designed to create such noise. Please contact tech service and provide more information about the noise Thank you

If I wanted to lengthen the hose for this unit, what kind of additional hose would I need to purchase? I would like to put it in a hallway with the closest window being a bathroom window that is 10 feet away. Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Melissa D
Dear Customer, Please do not add additional hose as our fan will not be able to deliver proper airflow with added hose static pressure. Thank you

Why does the circulation fan turn off when the compressor turns off? Can't use it while sleeping cause it gets stuck in a cycle of turning completely off, dead silence no fans, then randomly turns back on on its own, isn't the fan supposed to stay on?

Asked by: Jessica
Dear Customer, Unless the operation mode is set as fan, the unit will turn off when set temperature is reached and turn back on when room temperature starts to increase again. Thank you

Older LG air conditioners kept fan ON when compressor shut off. Buyers complain new models disturb their sleep: they completely shut OFF, + ON again few minutes later. LG here recommend "Inverter Compressor Portable Unit". What model # is this??

Asked by: TooHotHere
Dear Customer, Inverter Portable A/C that you are referring to is LP1419IVSM. Non-Inverter Portable units are designed to keep the fan on while compressor is off to circulate the air properly to measure accurate room temperature. Than you
