Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy and defective Not a good air conditioner. I had to turn it off at night, when I need it most, because of how loud it was. It was either sleeping, or saying up all night with the noise, and I chose the former. I'll add that my old AC was 10 years old, and we were looking especially for a quieter model. This model was much louder than the old one. After reading the reviews, I am certain this model was mass manufactured with some defect. After one day, I'm set to bring it back to the store for a full refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from remote control not working I received the air-conditioner two days ago. the unit works fine, but the remote control works 1 time out of 10 maybe just in the beginning when you turn it on and set the temperature. after that the remote control doesn't work and you can't change the setting no matter how much I try it. I expected much more and this fault disappointed me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little unit! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this unit and have only been using it a few hours but it works perfectly and integrates to my Amazon Alexa perfectly. Cools my bedroom with ease and is quiet enough for me to sleep with it on. Only snag is that it can't be right up against a wall due to the hose in the rear but I made it work. I will update or change this review should anything go wrong in the future, but for now I'm very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wi-Fi feature is fabulous! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this portable unit recently and have had the opportunity to use it already a few times. It functions well for my needs and it's very nice to be able to turn It on from wherever I am and have it be cool when I walk in the door.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works good - extremely noisy I bought this 2 weeks ago for my home office which has the heat of some 2 servers and my desktop PC and some smaller network devices. It works great in the space I have it (appro. 250-300 sq.ft). However, about 1 week aftr I started using it the compressor gets REALLY loud. So loud that I have had family members come into my office asking if everything is ok. It's a 4000 sq ft home and my sons bedroom is on the other side of the house and he heard it clearly. I am afraid it won't last much longer and am wondering if this should be returned/exchanged before warranty expires - I wear headphones so I can turn them up loud enough to drown out the noise but that is not ideal either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage If I could give zero stars, I would. We’ve been trying to get our unit fixed by LG for a year now. The tray fills with water constantly (we have another one that does NOT do this) and we’ve had their “techs” come out twice now. The first guy had no idea and the second guy said that it’s our job to fix the problem and that we need to put the unit 8 feet in the air and run a drainage tube out of the window. LG told us that we don’t qualify for a replacement and refuse to repair the unit. We’ve tried everything and the water just will not drain properly. It shuts off constantly saying the tray is full and they’re telling us it’s our problem to fix it. Why even have a warrantee if you refuse to replace or fix your products when they malfunction?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effecient, affordable, easy storage. This is my first portable ACunit. I’ll never use window units again. This unit has wheels and moves easily into storage. The unit uses its own water to cool the unit, so no more window units and messy drips and damage to my woodwork. The moving fan/vent feature is nice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design fail The one part you need to do attach the hose to the vent and to the exhaust is stupidly designed an cheap. It will not go together.

Is this AC loud? I'm looking for a decently quiet AC to cool off my small office that's around 200 square feet.

Asked by: KamilK
I’m honestly not sure why people are saying these are so loud, unless they have defective units. Mine is just fine and no louder than I would expect an air conditioner to be. Like until I read these reviews, it wouldn’t have even crossed my mind that this thing is loud. I think people have an expectation that air conditioners should Be super quiet, and maybe super pro one’s that are installed in ceilings and stuff are, but I wouldn’t call this overly loud at all. It’s  literally not an issue at all! So either people’s machines are broken or they have unrealistic expectations.

Is it normal for this unit to turn off every 5 minutes and then back on by itself a few minutes later? What is the cause? is there any way to stop this?

Asked by: S_M_5
Dear Customer, Our 8K Portable unit is not an inverter unit. So, it is designed to turn off once the set temperature is reached. Fan will turn on to circulate the air every few minutes and when room temperature rises again, it will start to operate in cooling to meet the set temperature. Thank you

Is there a hidden eco mode?  This unit continues to turn off both compressor and circulation fan instead of just the compressor.

Asked by: Sam P 123
The LG 8,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0821GSSM does not have a "hidden eco mode". Unlike some of our other Portable Air Conditioner models that have an Energy Saver mode that turns the compressor and the fan off when it reaches the set temperature then have the fan turn on approximately every three minutes to check the room to see if any further cooling is needed, this model does not have that feature...^IFV

Is there an outlet/drain or pipe nozzle where a hose can be attached to run water to outside of house?

Asked by: G0Mateo1989
The LG 8,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0821GSSM has a pump drain port on the back of the unit that you can attach a drain hose to for outdoor drainage or indoor drainage. If you use the Heat mode, you must install the drain hose. If only the Cool mode is used, the drain hose is not needed. Inserting the drain hose into the unit will automatically activate the drain function. You can also remove the drain plug from the upper drain port when using the Dry (dehumidifying) mode and install a 1/2" (12.7 mm) inside diameter garden hose (not provided) into the continuous drain port and place the open end of the hose over a floor drain or bucket...^IFV
