Rated 3 out of 5 by from Efficient I have an old farm house, and the upstairs was unbearably hot over summer months. I bought this and it made a big difference for the upstairs... when it was new it worked almost too well, it was super super cold and would even cool off the lower level of the house a few degrees. Now that I have used it for a month it isn’t quite as cold, I find myself leaving it on the coldest setting and giving it more time running before bedtime... it’s also August now so the nights aren’t as hot as they were. My energy bill did increase, but maybe $50/month more for running this thing constantly- I expected it to cost more to run so that was a pleasant surprise.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Water needs to be drained every 2 hours I have been using this AC for about a week, and I have to drain the water every two hours, otherwise the machine shuts down... I thought it had self evaporation system, but I guess I was misinformed... I live in Vancouver and I don't think it's THAT humid... I have used different brand and I had never had to drain the water from the AC and I used it for 4 years... My friends also told me they have never drained the water from their portable ACs... so I am not sure if mine is defective or it's just how it's built... Other than the water issue, it works good. Wifi feature is really handy. Relatively quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very short exhaust duct I just bought this fairly expensive machine, but it came with an extremely short exhaust duct. It is impossible to connect it to a standard 3ft above the ground window while curving it as the manual demonstrates and while respecting the 50cm distance from the wall. After over an hour on the phone with LG customer service, they told me to contact the parts department to order a extension duct. After another hour on the phone, the parts department told me that the extension duct will only be available at the end of the summer. So I am not stuck with a machine that I can neither use nor return. Thank you LG!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't blow cold air I bought this a/c a few days ago and it is blowing cool air not cold. It is only the beginning of May and we are not yet in the summer months, therefore this a/c will not be able to withstand the hot summer months as what it is intended for. Contacted LG and they opened a ticket but informed me to contact Home Depot (the seller) about this a/c not performing up to standards. However, Home Depot is not taking returns because of the Ontario wide lockdown. So I am currently stuck with an unusable a/c and cannot get my money back because of the no return policy currently in affect because of the lockdown.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Breaks after 3 days Did a lot of research on the product and checked everyday to get this exact A/C. I was excited when it first came in stock and I was able to purchase it. After running for 3 days well, the machine started to have a code “CH38” after running for 20 minutes. After having multiple calls with LG they said I can exchange it with Home Depot. Home Depot said they won’t have any for months. They then told me to call LG back. Then they offered a full refund which I have to wait 6-8 weeks for. LG said they do not fix this a/c. I did get a quote from a LG official repair place which cost $50 for diagnosis and in the end found out it would cost me $600 to fix a refrigerant leak.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Balancing Act The cools great, but My one and only annoyance is the draining tube is 2 inches off the ground. I don’t know ANYONE that has a drain in their townhome main floor or upstairs, nor in their apartment of any kind. Be prepared to buy something like a STURDY plastic bin turn upside down and balance the 60 pound unit on. Secondly, the window sealer does not fit my Toronto fourplex window, that slides left to right and right to left and about 18 inches high. I had to take the Red Green duck tape to rig some thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it. You won't be sorry. IM NOT!! I was a little sceptical at first because some portable a/c have a bad rap, but I did my research and found this one to fit all of my needs. I am SO impressed with it. It does the job quickly and efficiently, and when on low (which cools off the entire 600 sq feet), I can barely hear it. I have not had to put it on medium or even high, even though this has been a brutal summer so far, and I live in SW Ontario where it has been HOT AND HUMID UGGGG. It was extremely easy to install. I would recommend this particular unit to anyone looking for a quiet efficient unit. I am so happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish they sold a dual inlet/outlet unit The unit works well and the Wifi remote control is great when I am away from home to control the unit. I wish they sold a dual inlet/outlet unit. I have always had dual inlet/outlet units in the past and I really do not like the negative vacuum this single outlet unit causes. You cannot cool efficiently more than one room in your house because the negative vacuum sucks hot air into your house. A dual inlet/outlet unit does not cause this so it is easier to cool other areas of the house. On the plus side this is a very powerful and efficient compressor so it can cool a small room very quickly with the room door closed.

how often do you have to drain the water?

Asked by: AJ in Vancouver
I have had to drain this unit on average every 1-2 hours since i bought it. It has been a huge pain as the unit shuts down completely until it is drained. I will be looking for an exchange unit as others don't seem to have the same problems. I live in Vancouver.

Hi... I live in a 800 sq ft apartment. I plan to use this portable air-conditioned in my living room by the day and then move it to my bedroom in the night. Is it possible or will the window exhaust and all the exhaust wiring make it impossible to move ?

Asked by: Akshat
Hi there, thanks for your interest in our product! The unit can certainly be moved from room to room but the ease of this will depend on your installation. If the exhaust hose is firmly attached to the window in one room, it will make things fairly difficult to continuously remove and reinstall. Kind regards.

What is the width of the end of the exhaust? I already have a plastic window with a 6 inches hole in it and would like to use it because no instalation kits fit in my windows.

Asked by: Guillaume
Hi Guillaume, thanks for your interest in our product. The exhaust's diameter is just under 6inches.

I would like to use what used to be a dryer vent pipe (metal) to exhaust this air conditioner. Is this possible?

Asked by: Linda
Hi Linda, if the vent from your older dryer fits the A/C, there's no reason you can't use it. Typically however, Dryer vents have a slightly small diameter for the vents so it may require a bit of retrofitting to fix it to the A/C.

Can this unit be used next to a patio door to the balcony ? Do I need to buy a panel kit for the hose ?

Asked by: Ken W
Yes you would need a panel kit for the patio door (if they make one). It only comes with a window kit. The hose it comes with is also quite short so it wouldn’t hurt

My windows are 72 inches high and they are the kind that rolls out with a crank. Will this unit (and the exhaust hose) reach that??

Asked by: QuestionGuy
Yes, I think so.

Could this unit operate without as a stand alone without needing outside air through it's duct. Can it not just use the air in a given room?

Asked by: Andy
No.  All portable AC vent outside, usually through a window, bringing fresh air in and sending the heat which they generate outside.
