Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ran perfectly for almost 6 days I bought this item on Friday June 29, 2018 and the unit worked perfectly during our heatwave until Wednesday July 4th, 2018. Unfortunately the heatwave continued for a couple more days and it seemed like all stores were sold out of larger window units. To be fair, the unit worked better then expected while it functioned, but it was very frustrating to have something fail after only 6 days of use. Originally I thought it must have needed to be reset, and I followed the instructions of the LG help line agent, but it seems to require repair. I assume that there was just something wrong with mine due to the high number of great reviews, but I did not personally have a positive experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and good looking! We bought this to cool the second floor of a very old (and hot) house. The second floor has four bedrooms and the AC unit is in the master bedroom. It does a fantastic job of keeping the second floor cool and you can even feel a bit of cool air on the first floor. This is our second summer with the device and it works perfectly. The mobile app is great and is kept updated by LG, it works with Alexa and Google Home, and it looks sharp. With this product you're getting the power of a split AC system for a fraction of the cost! PS - we did recommend this to a friend last year and they bought the same device and also are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Unit I recently replaced a 12,000 BTU Danny that was 6 years old with this, and it’s a night and day difference in noise and cooling capacity. The unit operates like a dream, regulating its speed to keep the temperature cool without the constant on/off cycling we are all accostumed to. I was so impressed by it that I will be replacing my second floor air conditioner with another of these Dual Inverters, and I’m sure my electric bill will look much better as well. I only wish Home Depot Canada also had the 18k and 24k versions that are available in the US, as a larger unit on my second story has to handle the brunt of the cooling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased With Performance Bought this to cool a 1000 sq/ft home. Our 25 year old central air unit died. Contractor told me that parts are scarce and new units have inflated prices. Instead of scrambling to pay a fortune, I tried this unit for now. Wow! It’s very quiet on start up. It has an app to start/stop remotely! It easily cooled my home with a few strategically placed fans to circulate air. I’m just glad I didn’t overpay $4k+ for a garbage outdoor central air unit for just another couple of months use. This fit in our sideways opening window. It’s 24” wide, so it just fit. Buy a 24x48 sheet ow wood and cut to fit upper piece. Now I just need to see if this thing lasts a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet and cools over 1,000 sq. ft! Excellent a/c! I needed to replace my older window a/c and first purchased a 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner as I wanted to give that model a try. It ran for a few days straight and our home was no different. My main goals were to find a unit that was quiet and could cool our 1,000+ square foot open concept bungalow. I started researching and came across the LG 14,000 BTU Inverter Window Air Conditioner and thought I'd give it a try. It is fantastic!! Easy to install and within 15 minutes of having it turned on our home was noticeably cooler. I can't say enough good things about this unit, as it met all of my criteria. It's very quiet, stylish, and can cool large spaces quickly and efficiently. I have not yet set up the wi-fi feature, so I cannot comment on that aspect, but that wasn't really a priority for me. One comment I would like to make with regard to window width is that the box does say that it fits windows starting at 27". This is correct if you put on the sliding side plastic curtains. My window was only 25.5" so I just left the plastic curtains off, as the unit itself is only 24" in width. It fit perfectly, and I just filled the 1/2" gap on each side with a small, neatly rolled up white towel. Just something to think about so that you're not deterred by the published dimensions. I highly recommend this unit to cool your home, especially if you're looking to cool a large space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Big A/C. This unit is a gem. 2020 has been a horrible heat wave in my city, and this magical beast has saved my work from home summer. We have about 650 square feet, so this unit really does the trick. Be warned, it's very heavy. In order to install it's going to be a two-person job, unless you're some kind of lonely giant. The unit is 115 lb, and you have to install the box first, and then slide in the mechanical part of the unit. it looks complicated but it actually turned out to be pretty easy. But you just need to know that it's not as simple as putting a box in your window. If I had the choice I'd buy this thing again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthy investment! Yes, this air con is more expensive, but I think that it's worth it. Now that I have it installed, I love it. It cools the room very well without making it freezing cold, and it really isn't that noisy. I never thought that I would use the Wifi feature, but I actually love that I'm able to start it and check on its status while in another room. Plus, it being Energy Star is a huge plus. the only downside was the installation. I hated every minute of it. the unit is unbelievably heavy and the instructions for installation are incredibly obscure and unclear. I ended up winging it and fortunately, it worked out. Still, I dread having to uninstall it this fall. But it makes the harsh Montreal summers far more tolerable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too much water being discharged! I bought this unit after reading some great reviews but honestly it is a constant worry. I live in an apartment and the AC leaks so much water outside and down to the balcony below me. I then put a bucket underneath but it fills up fast and I have to keep emptying it every few hours. Very stressful. We can’t leave it running when not home for fear of the overflow water being discharged. I am very disappointed with this product. Also, parts are very flimsy, even just taking out the filter to wash, we are afraid to break something. But my main issue is all of the water. Very disappointed. Don’t purchase this product if you live with an apartment or condo underneath you. PS. It is very heavy!

Is this unit need a drain pipe to drain water? I heard the modern units doesn't drain water. Is that true? I am in a 3rd floor condo unit. My concern is may drop the water to ground floor unit backyard.

Asked by: kasy
Hi Kasy, thanks for your interest in our product. The more humid it is outdoors, the more likely the unit will produce more water. There is a drain port located on the back of the unit so yes it will drip. When motor is running at max to cool (first few hours after turning on) it sounds like a diesel engine idling outside my house. Once it's cooled enough for the motor to slow, it's very quiet. This also happens when I use Dry mode. Is this rumbling normal?

Asked by: hend
Actually, Alex, it is that loud. But based on the responses I got, clearly this isn't normal. Plus over the last few days I've tried using the Dry mode but it INCREASES the humidity, not decreases it (I have humidity monitors in my house so I can see it go up from 50% humidity to 53% over a few hours of running). It does the same in Cool mode just not as fast. I contacted LG about both the noise and humidity issues and they determined it was definitely a defective unit and recommended I bring it back to the store for an exchange as they won't service it....it's on their list of appliances that that they won't repair, just exchange. Problem is I'm the one paying $120 each time the installer comes as I can't manage the 100lb unit. So even if I get a free replacement at the store, I'm out $240 total on install/uninstall costs. NOT impressed!!! However, thank you everyone for your responses, they were very helpful.

Can this air conditioner be installed on a horizontal sliding window frame? From what a read, the installation kit is for a vertical window.

Asked by: Daniela
Yes it can. We just cut a piece of ply wood to cover the open window. Unfortunately, you do loose the natural light in your room but it's worth it. I have a 1300sq ft apartment and it cools it from end to end.

Is it normal that water accumulates in the base pan?

Asked by: francisco
I called LG, they say it's normal. As Rick mentions, it helps the fan stay cool. Water should evaporate

How is this secured and sealed in a window opening? It appears to be smooth all around, with nothing to catch, and nothing to seal space at the sides.

I am looking to cool the upstairs of my house.  There is one large master bedroom and two smaller kids rooms at the end of the hall.  If I put this in the master bedroom and some floor fans at the end of the hall, will this work?  (approx 700 ft2)

Asked by: Silvernickel
Yes, I live in a high ranch bungalow. This air conditioner cools the top floor. This is the best air conditioner I’ve ever had. I really like the energy saving temperature control. I set mine at 23 degrees and it keeps it at that temperature. I must mention although it’s quieter than all the other air conditioners I’ve had it might be loud in the bedroom.
