Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good quality all-in-one This washer seems well made so far. I kept my old dryer (only my previous washer broke down) so I use that dryer on a regular basis but having an all-in-one washer dryer is very convenient if your load can go straight to dry. Set it and a few hours later you have fully washed and dried clothes without having to switch machines. The one negative is it takes very long to run a full wash/dry cycle (about 4 hours) due to the way the dryer feature works (ventless, through the drain). Home Depot picked up my old machine and delivered this new one in its old spot. Worked great, even during the pandemic (delivery people wore masks and followed protocols).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this machine What a life changing purchase, no more lugging laundry up and down the stairs. I needed a solution for a ventless washer/dryer in my condo. After researching and reading reviews I chose this one. It’s amazing, washes and drys perfectly, even king size comforter. It looks great too. Very happy with this product. It takes about 3 hours to wash and dry a load, which isn’t an issue for me. It requires wiping lint from the door seal, after each use, but no big deal... love my washer/dryer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great for small spaces, but..... Awesome for small spaces, large drum so you can do somewhat normal load sizes. Only thing is, the clothes come out very wrinkled compared to a normal dryer. I didn’t think it would be an issue because of the steam refresh this dryer has. Once it’s dried, I figured I could do a very fast steam refresh to release some wrinkles. Apparently, this dryer you can’t do that, the steam is only able to be released during an actual wash cycle, which is super dumb if you ask me. That’s a huge disappointment, and as such, this washer/dryer combo went from 5 stars to 3 stars because of the very amateur error in Lg’s product designers not thinking of this very very VERY easy add-on. Heck, you don’t even need another button, one is on the machine! Or even add it as a feature to the LG ThinQ app!!! I can’t believe they didn’t think of that...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing machine totally in love!!! I bought this machine November 2020 and I have not looked back. The fact that it didn't need to be vented was a bonus I live in a small home and was delighted to be able to save space. I was initially worried if the capacity would be suitable for my family of 4 (3 kids 12,14, 16) . There was no issue at all the full cycle on perm press with normal dry runs approx. 3:30 hours which is more than acceptable to set it, forget it and come back to the load fluffy and wrinkle free. I was so amazed by the quality of the drying done by steam. I set up the ThinQ but don't feel the need to use it that often. I have been raving about this machine to anyone who will listen to me and would recommend this particular size and model to any person or family. Even when I don't use the dry setting the clothes come out great and air dry quickly

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY! Within 6 months unit began taking twice as long to dry items (+6 hrs). LG official response: split the drying load in half! Manufacturer’s standard is mediocrity. 10 months after purchase, unit breaks down entirely. LG concludes they can not fix, offers purchase reimbursement. But, I added a Sidekick washer to this unit, and now it’s useless to me and I’m out $1k on that, LG has no sympathy nor conscience. I also paid additional $1k on custom cabinetry around a product that is a total loss of invest, ent to me as well. My fault for taking assumption their product was reliable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from After a year, failed to drain and dry clothes While I was initially happy enough with this purchase, after approximately one year of use, it is not draining properly and so, not drying. It was very expensive to have issues this quickly. There are no kinks in the hoses and a blockage hasn't been found. I ran a drain and spin with nothing in the machine and it seemed to work. Did a small load of damp clothes on drain and spin and timed dry for 2 hours. The clothes were at least as wet as when they went in the machine. Do Not buy, if you can help it. I wish I hadn't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for some, not for all I love this washer, but I understand why it gets mixed reviews. By its very nature, it presents tradeoffs. It obviously combines the washer and dryer into one drum, so you can’t wash and dry different loads at the same time. If you have a large family and need to do lots of laundry all at once, you’ll find it limiting. If you have more time for laundry, this washer is super convenient, because you don’t need to transfer the clothes from the washer to the dryer; set the machine for a full wash and dry cycle, and magic happens. The other tradeoff relates to being ventless: it takes longer to dry the clothes than a vented washer does. The actual duration depends on the size of the load (and it seems there’s more variation than in a vented dryer). Smaller loads take about the same time, while larger loads can take several hours. Again, if you’re not in a rush, this is totally fine. I don’t mind at all. I can set a load of laundry to start washing whenever I want, and sometime in the future I’ll have clean, dry laundry. There’s more than enough time to do 2 large loads in a day, and for a couple without kids, that’s my week’s laundry. But being a combo washer-dryer and don’t need to transfer it to the dryer, I can also set it to go at bedtime and wake up to dry laundry. If you adapt your habits ever so slightly, this machine shouldn’t be an issue for most people. I’m in a condo, and moved from a stacked washer-dryer; moving to this combo unit means that I gained a whole lot of space to install storage shelving. Now for some nitty-gritty details... it plugs into a regular electrical outlet (like any washer), not a 240 volt outlet (like other dryers). It has loads of programmed wash cycles, like any modern washer. It’s a large, full-sized unit, not a compact apartment washer. The instruction manual seems to have skipped the dryer instructions so there’s confusion around the dryer functionality, but I can 100% confirm that you can set most wash cycles to automatically dry after the spin, but some specialized cycles won’t let you. In these cases (or when you just need to dry), you do a drain and spin cycle with dry. The dryer senses the moisture and adjusts timing so clothes come out dry; sometimes they feel a tad humid, but that’s just the humid air in the drum and the clothes are indeed quite dry. No traditional lint filter to empty; lint gets caught in the drum and in the washer drain filter that should be cleared monthly (very simple). The unit does get rather warm during the dry cycle, so ideally you have good ventilation around it. And finally, this is complex machinery, so if you’re worried about the long-term durability, just get the extended warranty and stop worrying!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I bought the WM3998HBA in October. At the beginning I was so happy with it but after a few weeks the dryer started to leave a very annoying odor on the clothes and the house smells exactly like that too. Nothing smells fresh and clean! I would like to know if there is a filter that i need to clean or if my machine is defective. We can’t take it anymore with that smell! Other than that the washer is amazing!!

I heard lots of reviews about All in One Washer/Dryer combo machine that they doesn't last long due to lint blockage issues or doesn't properly dry the clothes. Is there any way to avoid these issues? or the newer models are improved and work better?

Asked by: dkali1
I suspect that anyone with lint blockage issues did not diligently empty the lint trap on the lower left front of the machine. Steam drying does take longer, but it does work. I found that the steamy damp feeling on laundry when the dry chime sounds would disappear in the time it took to fold everything. Keeping the lint trap clean also helps improve drying times.

Can you wash only and remove clothes at end of wash cycle to hang dry and can you use to dry only ?

Asked by: Mary
Yes you can wash clothes only without starting the dry cycle. You can also dry only but it isn’t as intuitive as you’d think. You actually have to choose the spin cycle, select No Spin and then select the dry cycle you want. Works well.

It's not clear if the Washer Dryer includes the "Twinwash" pedestal unit or sold separately ..... Not seeing it as a separate unit !

Asked by: Jaksboy
Pedestal is sold separately. I did not purchase it so not sure if Home Depot stocks it.

The machine just is installed today. It's creating significant grinding noise in washing cycle. Even if I manually rotate the drum, it's creating grinding noise, any idea why this is happening?

Asked by: dkali1
Did you make sure to remove the pins in the back of the machine before using? They are in the instructions/setup.
