    The LG Electronics 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote features a dehumidifier that removes moisture from the air. It is equipped with casters that allow for easy movement to the spaces that need chilling, this portable AC unit also includes a remote control for easy temperature, fan speed and timer adjustments from across the room. This machine boasts 2-way up/down air deflection that circulates air evenly to eliminate hot spots, providing ample airflow to cool spaces up to 200 sq. ft. Note: the freestanding unit must stay upright for 24 hours before use, must be vented to the outside (window installation kit included with detailed instructions) and cannot be used with extension cords.

I had my doubts about portable air conditioners, given that many customers seem to complain at random about competing products and that--the last time I had such a product, some fifteen years ago--it cost over $1,000. This LG unit is terrific. It cools the room quickly and keeps it icy-cold. It is incredibly easy to use: I push one button on the remote control and walk away. It is reasonably quiet, offering a "white noise" type hum that I just sleep through. No fuss, no mess, just dusting off the filters every two weeks, which are a snap to remove and reinstall. I couldn't be happier!

    Our unit has been running fine, until tonight. We turned on the unit, the compressor is not turning on, but instead making a load roaring noise? What is the best fix for this?

    How do I set up the timer?

    Use the Timer function to turn the air conditioner ON/OFF automatically. Setting the Air Conditioner to Turn ON: 1. Plug in the air conditioner and use the remote to power it ON. 2. Use the remote to set the desired mode, temperature, fan speed, etc. 3. Use the remote to power OFF the air conditioner. 4. Press TIMER on the remote and use the up and down buttons to set the desired delay time until the air conditioner turns ON. The delay time can be set from 0 to 24 hours in one-hour increments. 5. Press TIMER again to enter the delay time. The TIMER LED on the air conditioner illuminates, and the delay time appears on the remote and in the control panel. 6. To cancel the Timer function, press TIMER on the remote. Setting the Air Conditioner to Turn OFF 1. Plug in the air conditioner and use the remote to power it ON. 2. Use the remote to set the desired mode, temperature, fan speed, etc. 3. Press TIMER on the remote and use the up and down buttons to set the desired delay time until the air conditioner turns OFF. The delay time can be set from 0 to 24 hours in one-hour increments. 4. Press TIMER again to enter the delay time. The TIMER LED on the air conditioner illuminates, and the delay time appears on the remote. The delay time appears briefly in the control panel and is then replaced by the set temperature. 5. To cancel the Timer function, press TIMER on the remote.
