I recently uprooted a worn out wall-to-wall carpet and replaced it with this LifeProof Laminate flooring in Rustic Brown and it gave my living room the much needed facelift is so sorely needed and so much more! I am a DiYer who is always looking to expand my repertoire and this is my first flooring project. If you take the time to educate yourself in the know-how's & how-to’s of tongue and groove flooring systems, gather all the tools you will need for the job (table saw, miter saw, flooring kit, etc), and have the luxury of a helper - you're going to be fine working with this flooring. The tongue and grove system on the planks worked as expected; the full planks locked together easier than the smaller pieces. Albeit, my sub-floor wasn’t the flattest surface to work with either and it shows. The flatter your sub-floor, the less likely your planks will come loose while you work. Mine tend to come loose and I would have to go back and lock them together again. The planks don't look it but they're 'heavy'! The flooring is 'thick' too. Make it easy on yourself and use a table saw w a finishing blade to cut the planks. I found that it helped to do four rows at a time – and don’t panic if some planks come loose while you're working your rows. It’s just what happens and it all comes together in the end when when the last row goes in nice and snug. If you’ve ever put together a piece of IKEA furniture, you know the feeling. Someone who knows what they’re doing can certainly do a room in a day. It took me two. In addition, have 'at least' 10% more flooring than you “need”. You will need more flooring than you think. Flooring in general is a labor-intensive project. If up for the challenge, then go for it! The reward it worth it. The look and feel of the floor is absolutely beautiful. I bought this flooring having only seen it on HomeDepot.com. OUt of the box, I was super-pleased with the appearance of the flooring and even more impressed with it's beauty and once it was installed. We refinished the whole room; new paintjob, new furniture, new lighting, the whole bit – but the best and most noticeable upgrade to the room is the flooring and it’s because of the rustic oak wood finish. It’s the perfect finish for our house, not too “cheap” looking at all. It’s tough too. I was worried about scratching the finish as we moved the furniture back into the room but there was nothing. I checked and there are no blemishes on the floor from the furniture. As for maintenance, we’re an active household that virtually destroyed the wall-to-wall carpet over the years. We are in desperate need of a laminate floor that can stand the test of constant use by an active family. So far, it's holding up just fine and maintenance is a breeze; A quick sweep each day with a broom and a once-over with a swifter is keeping the floor looking as good as the day it was put in. I would highly recommend this flooring to anyone wish redoing the floors in their home, especially anyone with an active household where the floors take a beating. Speaking for myself, I am now planning on purchasing more of this flooring for the hallways so they will soon coordinate with the living room. If you're capable working with power saws then you should be able to do the work yourself and I guarantee you'll love the results! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

It is warm, it is natural, it is rustic yet blends wonderfully with a modern decor. The packaging shipped to our door was without flaw. There was not so much as a flaw in any corner of the flooring and the edges were perfect with the slightest damage. I've enclosed a couple photos of the packaging to show the double cartons as well as extra protection on the ends. Installation was as easy as any I have installed, and staggering the flooring for the natural look was non complicated. Really, staggering the floor for a natural look is all there is to it. A nice flooring mallet and laminate tools to protect edging and tap the flooring from a wall are highly recommended. The proper tools will make the task easier and save from the heartache of damage and frustration. The backing is installed permanently to the back of the flooring with really assists in laying the flooring, and makes the entire process easy. The interlocking edges hold firmly together and takes just a bit of finesse to get the feel of it. After completing one room, I feel there may be more updates coming in the future with the rustic brown. We just really like the appearance, and feel of it. It has very nice coloring and mimics real wood. I have opened a lot of boxes with chipped edges or warped boards, but this wasn't the case with this product. I couldn't tell when ordering but this flooring is extremely smooth and we wear socks in our home so it is slicker than i had hoped. For us we do better with the embossed style of laminate. It is thick not thin like other flooring. It can be applied over existing linoleum, vinyl tile, ceramic tile. Do not install in areas where it will be exposed to extreme water, saunas swimming pools. etc Read the directions as to moisture levels of area to be floored. Also concrete requires extra work before installing. I plan on using it in the kitchen as soon as I take a flooring class from home depot to make sure I know what I am doing. The joints lock tightly together with no problems...no beating boards together. I just had to angle the board upwards and lay it down as I fitted the joints together. The wide boards also make quick work of completing the room. The surface seems tough, but I'll know better after my boxer dances around on it for a couple of months. The only issue I have is a personal preference issue, and nothing to do with the quality of the floor. I like the rustic look and texture, but after the complete installation, I found the color I picked looks too busy, mainly because of the dark coloring in the joints. If the joints didn't have the dark brown color, I would like the look a lot more. But as I said, this is my mistake and has nothing to do with the quality or ease of installation. It lays on the existing floor and helps with the slight imperfections of the existing flooring. I had tiles in my kitchen and I did not remove them. I did use padding only because I wanted to insulate the floor since I'm over a crawl space and I also wanted to eliminate any noise that may have come from the two floors rubbing. It is easy to install and each piece interlocks with the other easily. I liked installing this floor and I do recommend investing in some floor tools before you start. My wife and I love the look and feel of the new floor. We don't wear shoes indoors and this floor feels great under our feet. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We were putting off repainting the concrete floor as neither of us enjoyed painting it years ago and it only lasts a few years. We decided to go with the Lifeproof's Rustic Brown Oak laminate flooring. This is a great start but we'll be buying many more cases of it as we're flooring a 500+ sf floor. It looks fantastic. We're very happy with the results so far. We've been joking about throwing down some sawdust on the finished floor to get the true rustic feel. Maybe a few peanut shells too. Just a joke. No 2 pieces look alike. Each piece has it's own finish so it really looks realistic. The installation couldn't be easier. The underlayment is more of a hassle than the flooring is. All we did was to install the corner piece and work out from there. It's very easy to trim to size with no specialty tools needed. Simply put one piece against that one until it's flush then lay it flat. It hooks to the prior one with ease. I wish there was a way to cut the grooves into a piece after it's been cut. I feel I wasted quite a bit by not having a groove on a trimmed off piece for another piece to connect. You can just flush cut both pieces but I really prefer the tongue and groove connection. I also found myself needing to slow down. In hurrying I accidentally hit a tongue or two against a wall and had to stop to repair the divot left from the contact. Overall, I'm a big fan. It looks great. It's simple to install. You need to be careful not to damage any of the tongues or grooves during the install. I'm confident it will last a good long time. We had experience in putting down hard wood floors throughout our living room and stairway. Then we tried this laminate in a guest room closet. It was so simple and easy to put down and looks incredible! The consistency of the size and dimensions made putting the flooring down easy. We were able to make any special cuts w a portable miter saw and the color of the flooring is consistent thru all the cases we received. Going to redo our craft room next with this flooring!
