It took me some time to get used to the plank locking system but once I figured that out it became easy. I used a Skill floor cutting table saw and a Jig-saw instead of an utility knife and my bedroom and closet look nice!

We had done about 500 Sq feet using another color, LIGHTHOUSE OAK - a full kitchen, dining room, hallway, and bathroom and it looks great and has been "bullet proof" for over 1 year. We love the color and texture, it is not smooth or slippery so it really had great appeal. This color choice is not a standard stocked item at our local Home Depot so when we wanted to do a smaller area ( 70 Sq ft ) in another part of our home we chose the in-stock color of the Sterling Oak. Same price as the Lighthouse Oak but lacks the texture and is more basic grey and is more slippery but for what we are doing it is fine. We did ask if it is the same quality as the other and were told yes. Same day we installed it, I dropped a small pliers from 3 feet and it chipped out a noticeable chuck in the middle of the floor. After the normal everyday abuse the other LifeProof vinyl flooring has taken in our kitchen, I was baffled the damage caused in the Sterling Oak. Home Depot still says they are identical quality / durability and only difference is the appearance and texture - I disagree. We had to purchase another carton and redo about half the floor to replace the one plank damaged by the small pliers. I assume it was just bad luck, but side by side they do seem different.

I’m on a concrete slab, l want to know if I can install 1/4 inche cork before I install my 7mm life proof vinyl flooring!

    Asked by: Chris
If the cement is fairly smooth you should be able to lay the fireproof flooring directly over the cement slab. Any kind of underlay will not be necessary. The warranty will not be valid if you do put it over underlay. Enjoy your flooring. We love it and have laid a lot of square feet of it.

Can this flooring be installed on top of my engineered hardwood?

    Asked by: Brads02
Thanks for your question. If your engineered hardwood is fully adhere to a wood subfloor and is smooth, flat, and solid, it's fine to install on top of. If it's floating or installed over a concrete subfloor, it must be removed prior to installing the Lifeproof.

Can this be installed over radiant heat floor ?

    Asked by: Randy
Thanks for your question. Lifeproof can be installed over radiant heat as long as it's electric or hydro elements and they're buried at least 1/2" below the surface of a concrete subfloor. Radiant mats are not approved, neither are radiant elements used with wood subfloor.

Can this be installed overtop of https://www.homedepot.ca/product/prova--flor-subfloor-system-eco-green-50-ft-roll-/1000744042 with a layer of OSB on top? Going over concrete. 5/8” osb. Also do you have the part number for the stair nosing and transitions

    Asked by: Handy99
Yes over osb. Picked out nosings while at HD. Picked out a close color. Same for transitions. Anything like weathered oak should match nicely. Mine is a shade darker but works well to define steps.

How resistant is the floor to heat. Example, someone drops their cigarette?

    Asked by: vicki
Didn’t leave a mark, but the cigarette didn’t sit on the floor very long either.

Hi. Can this be installed on a floor that has a bump in it? The bump is due to settling around the post in the basement?

    Asked by: Nikkic
Thanks for your question. It depends on how high the bump is. The subfloor cannot be more than 1/4" in 10 ft out of flat. If the bump is more than that, the subfloor will definitely need to be leveled.

Hi can I install the luxury vinyl plank flooring on top of DMX Airflow underlayment or Delta FL underlayment, which will be on top of the concrete slab in my basement?

    Asked by: Frank
Thanks for your question. You cannot install Lifeproof over either of those, or any type of underlayment. The planks have a pre-attached underlayment so they need to be placed directly over the concrete or over a 6 mil poly moisture barrier over concrete. Any type of underlayment will void the warranty, give the planks too much cushion, and cause movement and gapping.

I will be installing this flooring over a plywood subfloor that has some imperfections caused by removal of old ceramic tile/grout. I am wondering if, over time, the imperfections in the subfloor will be visible on the finished surface of the flooring?

    Asked by: Stan
Thanks for your question. The rigid core of the LifeProof planks significantly cuts down on the possibility of telegraphing but the subfloor does need to be as clean and smooth as possible. I'd recommend a cementitious leveling compound to even the subfloor out prior to installation. Just to be cautious.
