I do not usually give bad reviews but this welding rod caused me more problems than solutions. This rod is very hard to light off and when you finally get it lit then you better burn the whole thing as it will never relight again. I ran out of good rod and was in a pinch so I picked this up to keep the build going and fought it to the point that I ran in and bought the good stuff from the weld supply store. I burned over 40lbs of rod on that building and couldn't even use 10 sticks of this stuff. I would not buy this rod ever again. I don't know i it was just really old rom being on the shelf or just garbage but I do know it was a waste of time and money.

I use various rods, depending on the application, but these are my favorite go-to rod. I can make these rods do almost anything. 6011 leaves very little slag, which is part of their versatility. Rods that leave slag, like 7018, force you to weld in certain ways because you can't weld over the slag without cleaning it first. Fleetweld 180 leaves the least slag, essentially none, so you're free to weld in any pattern you wish that gets the weld in there with deep penetration and strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Welding Rods I started welding some time ago so I bought a stick welder. I picked up these electrodes too. The arc burns hot in a haze of green, and the welds are strong. I practiced on scrap steel, then I welded an anchor that needed mending. These are great welding rods and only cost $15!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This 40-80 amp electrode requires skill to strike & maintain arc. My 110V 75 amp inverter welder used it. I'm learning to weld and have not given up trying. It came in a 5 lb cardboard box with a plastic wrap cover sealed end flaps. For packaging comparison of 2 brands. Another brand came in a nice plastic case plastic wrap around the electrodes and the plastic case.. This review is about my very first E6011 3/32" ever in the 40-80 amp DC electrode + specification. The E6011 3/32" seems to be a hot tempered electrode that was somewhat difficult for a beginner to start & maintain an arc with a 110V 75amp inverter welder. It was chilly 56F too maybe a metal preheat & warmer temperatures will help. Finally I used a Performax 110V 75 amp inverter welder. The E6011 3/32" seemed to work or behave best at 60 amps. Max power approx. 75 amps it splattered more. My order of preference so far is. 1. E7014 5/64" 2. E6013 5/64". 3. E6011 3/32"

The 6011 rods did not work very well, hard to start and maintain a fillet weld. Something strange with these I have not seen before, on occasion the flux would catch fire and flame up all the way back to the electrode holder, while welding.

I wish they came in a resealable container but they don't so I put them in another brand's container to keep them dry. Home Depot price is lower than most places. I prefer these using these welding rods to another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rod for everyday use I've been burning this rod (6011) in my old Lincoln buzz box for close to 35 years. It'll accomplish any welding (regular steel) that you'll need to do around the house or farm.

Can this be run on a DC machine?

Can this be run on a DC machine?
Asked by: Tim
Yes. 6010 is DC only and requires a machine with high open circuit voltage (OCV), like 80 to 95 volts. 6011 will run on AC or DC. In fact, all rods will run on DC. The potassium in 6011 that enables it to run on AC also enables it to run on low-voltage DC machines, like inverters. I run these 6011s mostly on an inverter machine with an OCV of about 50 volts. I like to run 3/32 rods at about 85 amps and the 1/8 rods at 115 amps. (Your mileage may vary.) I also run these on DCEP for thin material. If you do that, don't be surprised if you have to run fairly high current. It seems weird but I run Fleetweld 180 E6011 3/32 on DCEP at 95 amps for thin material.

I bought some before and they wear grey. Now when i bought some ther brownish ?? Same stuff? Whats ?"fleetweld"? Mean?

Asked by: Eddie
Fleetweld, Jetweld, Excalibur, etc. are just a brand names that Lincoln uses. Fleetweld has been around since 1927. The implication is that you can weld fast with them. Lincoln is heavily focused on industrial welding, where speed is very important. They make many kinds of rods, and several kinds of each type of rod, so they name and number them. I have a can of Fleetweld 35 E6011s and I don't like them. They run a little rough, leave significant slag, and produce an unpleasant odor. Fleetweld 180 E6011 is my favorite rod of all. Well behaved, smooth, powerful, no nasty stink, no slag. These should be a tan color and have three green dots in the middle of the rod. The Fleetweld 35s that I don't like are a dark brown color. If you had gray ones, then maybe you got hold of 6011s for pipeliners, like Fleetweld 5P+. They are designed for very high speed of welding. But I thought Lincoln only made gray 6010 rods. Maybe they make 5P+ 6011 too.

Yes hi i have E6011 Fleetweld stick Electrode for welding butt i like no if I can use it for aluminum welding

yes I have a fleet well stick for steel but I would like to know if I can use it for aluminum also
Asked by: fess
You cannot weld aluminum with these rods. They do make special rods for electric arc welding aluminum, however I have never used them. If you search online you can probably find a utube video that can instruct you on what rod you need and how to arc weld aluminum.
