Each slab is pre-drilled, so you can insert our pocket hole screws and make a seamless joint. This edge piece features 1 natural edge and 1 square edge. Edge pieces can be joined to any center piece or even another edge piece depending on your project. Let your imagination run wild. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to Work With One plank was not cut 90 degrees square on one end. One plank was slightly bowed so that they were not entirely flat when edge joined. The pocket screw holes are not drilled all the way through to the edge. Their angle is such that a conventional power drill chuck head is too large to properly align for drilling the rest of the way. You have to guesstimate, measure and drill from the edge back into the pocket, hoping to achieve the correct angle. You then have to guesstimate the correct angle going the other way to drill the receptor pilot hole in the plank to be joined. Fortunately, it's supposed to have a "rustic" look, rather than finished furniture quality, and it does have that because the two boards do not fit together perfectly flat when edge joined. I used wood glue and underside strapping to ensure that the two boards are well bound together. After a lot of extra work and aggravation I did end up with a nice looking rustic bench, finished with natural (clear) Watco Danish Oil.

One of the finished tops has a small gap of about 3 inches on one end which might have been from a slight difference between the planed pieces. Hardly noticeable and probably gives a little more character.

Is this lumber treated? can I use it for a kitchen cutting board?

The Timber Link slabs are beautiful and great for furniture making. The sides are pre-drilled so several can be joined together. The wood is kiln-dried and unfinished. Personally I would not use this wood as a cutting board, sharp knives will do damage even though it is officially a hardwood.
