Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best exterior finish over-all. best value. Professional journeyman carpenter here. This stuff can’t be beat. Quickest install. Lowest price. Very fire resistant. Very dry rot/mold/mildew resistant. Termites won’t eat it. Light weight. Easy to cut. Pre-primed. This is the best low budget “siding” type finish there is. If you go with something else then you must have $ to burn. Or like the look of stucco. Or shingles. For some god awful reason.

How long does a good paint last? Do you really want to paint your house every few years? Could it be stained instead? LP can you answer?
Asked by: Skott
A good paint should last at least 10 - 15 years. I had my home painted in 2013 and it still looks like new. Check the best rated exterior paints, and you will find great recommendations. Though it may cost more initially, it will be cheaper in the long run because if you hire someone to do it, add that to the cost of the paint, and you're ahead of the game. Besides, who really wants to spend early Fall painting the house. I bought my home new 30 years ago and it's been painted at least 4 times - this last time has lasted the best and longest. As far as staining, since this smart side product is already pre-primed, I don't think you will be able to stain it unless you use a solid color stain. In that respect, you have to research the best solid stains on the market. I remember my father bought an old house circa 1906 and every 5 years he was up on the ladder 2 stories high re-staining (with solid color stain) but that was back in the '50s so products have new formulas added so check out the best stains and compare.

is this heat proof? wanting to put a back wall behind my grill.
Asked by: red
I'm not sure exactly how much heat this can stand. I can say that this is what we use in high fire areas of the west coast. It is the most difficult siding to burn.

is it Necessary to paint these panels or can they be left as they come without finished paint.

Asked by: Jeff
One surface is primed only. The edges ( all 4) should be painted or sealed if you want them to last. You can leave the primed surface alone, but would benefit from a second coat.
