Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to wire, works great in my large garage I bought this to replace the non-functional cheaper motion sensor switch I bought. This one worked out the gate and only took 15 minutes to wire in, including reading the manual. Works great, easy to adjust, very sensitive. No complaints at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well No issues. Does what it is supposed to do. Installation requires attention to wiring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! I installed two of these in a 3-way switch setup. I paralleled both of them and isolated the blue conductor on each unit. The black at the bottom of the unit on both are connected to the hot wire and the black conductor closest to the blue conductor is connected to the return conductor (wire that goes to the light).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from makes a CLICK noise when it turns on I am using it on the default settings. Changing them looks tricky, but I don't need to anyway. I write this to let other know that when the motion detector is activated, the device CLICKS as it turns on the light. I called their tech support. They said this is normal; it is a relay closing. My previous device did not do this, but I changed devices because the old one "leaked" power to the light all the time. This unit does not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product Purchased this product as i heard great reviews on this item. I purchased the one that was designed to 3 pole setup. The instructions diagram was very easy to follow and I did exactly what the instructions told me to do when installing. This product works like a charm and no issues. The sensing 180 degrees is really accurate. Installed this item in my laundry room as that is the access point to my garage and to do laundry. Great item..... thinking of buying more to see where I would need light sensors.

I have a three-way switch setup for my stairs to the basement (top and bottom). If I install one of these to replace one of the manual switches, is it likely to detect motion at either end of the staircase?

    Asked by: Lorne
The MS-OPS5M may pick up motion at the other end of the staircase depending on the configuration of the stairwell. You can view the sensor lens field of view on page 6 of the spec sheet here: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/369488.pdf. However, it will likely not detect the motion and the standard mechanical switch will need to be operated.

How does this product work when I pair it with a regular 3-way mechanical switch?

    Asked by: Jack
You change the wiring according to the included diagram. The sensor will work as the main switch. The old 3-way at the other end will be a slave switch: turning the lights on if they are off and turning them on if they are on. The main control is the motion sensor switch so make sure you install it on the end that has a field of view of where you want it to sense. The other end will be a "remote". It works very well.

Can I run 2 of these in a circuit to activate 1 light. Entering a stair well from either end.

    Asked by: gowings
I installed two of these in a 3-way switch setup. I paralleled both of them and isolated the blue conductor on each unit. The black at the bottom of the unit on both are connected to the hot wire and the black conductor closest to the blue conductor is connected to the return conductor (wire that goes to the light).  It works even though Lutron does not mention this.  There was an other fellow that did this but got into it really deep on colour and identification and the whole bit.  I can't say for sure what would happen though if you interchanged one of the sensors black conductors to the return (going to the light) and hot conductor.  I made both identical and it works just fine.

Is there a way to turn the lights on manually? When showering behind a curtain, it senses no one is in the room and turns off the lights. Showering in the dark. LOL.

    Asked by: Kelly181
The MS-OPS5M can be turned on/off manually by pressing the button, however, the timeout feature cannot be disabled. Lutron would suggest extending the timeout period for this application.

When i install a Lutron Meastro  three way Motion Sensing on one end & a standard mechanical switch at the other end if i turn on standard switch then Motion sensing switch will automatic turn off the light or not?

    Asked by: BVToronto
Yes, when the lights are turned on from the mechanical switch, the Maestro sensor will begin it's programmed countdown. If it does not detect motion within the countdown time then it will turn the lights off.
