Rated 4 out of 5 by from Manufacturing Issues I have used shrink film on all my windows for twenty years and write as an experienced user. I have used film from various maker's and sellers through the years and although the clarity of the film has varied, I have never had problems until this purchase of MD. The film was fine, the problem was the tape, it had insufficient glue on one side and the film wouldnt stick to it. I had to remove it from three large windows and start over with a new package. Home Depot was excellent and exchanged it for another but it was a huge inconvenience. Then when I got the replacement roll home I found the unopened package was missing 2 rolls of tape. MD needs to get their act together.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible product 1. The tape really, truly, does not work! It is so unsticky that the film fell off several times even before I started blow-drying it. I thought that maybe a second strip of tape would add stickiness... I was wrong: everything fell to the ground again. Had to get completely different double-sided tape, and that made the film stay up. 2. The film is definitely NOT "crystal clear"! My window looks like a windshield between sweeps on a rainy day. I can see outside, but everything looks fuzzy, and the bubbliness of the film actually makes me a bit nauseated. I have to leave it up for a few days until I can get different film, but the second I have a different product, it's coming down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tape is useless I've never written an online review in my life, but I have found this company's product so bad that I decided to take the time. I bought the MD film kit last year, and it was horrible. I have been doing window film for at least 10 years, so I have a very good notion about what is expected from a good product. It barely stayed on when I was installing it, and I had to repair throughout the winter. I assumed that I had a bad batch. So when I went back this year and Home Depot was still selling the MD product, I figured that was the case. But I'm having exactly the same problem. I will definitely never buy an MD product again, and given that I can get my window at pretty much any hardware store I will also never buy my window film at Home Depot again unless they get this right. They need to be more attentive to feedback.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tape is defective The double-sided tape is defective. The side that goes on the window frame is good, but the side where you put the plastic on has no adhesive to it. The plastic is not clear; instead, it has a “hazy” look to it. I’ve tried different brands over the past 20 years and this is the first time where I had problems with the tape. I will NOT BUY this brand again. Too bad I bought two rolls of this terrible product last year, and only got to start using it this year. Luckily, I was able to use leftover tape from other brands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from tape is less than inferior I agree with everyone's review, I've been doing my windows for a couple of years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with the tape. I tried a few different methods and ended up taking the tape off the windows. Now, I have to go somewhere else to buy some window tape as HD only sells this brands tape. So, I'm hoping I can find replacement tape. Do not buy or you'll be spending hours looking for replacement tape.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Winterizing windows This product sucks due to the fact that the 2sided tape is utterly useless. I tried different methods of applying the film to the tape, but either the film doesn't stick to the tape or once the film starts to shrink it pops off. The adhesion is 100% useless. Either buy another product of fork out some extra coin to l get quality tape. Very disappointed with this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't stick, buy something else So I put plastic in my windows every year for winter. First time have something so poor quality. The double sided tape DOESN'T WORK. Makes this product usless, I wasted my money on this prodoct. Buy something else and don't waste your money

I am wanting to cover two glass windows and apply the film to the glass. Also I don't know if this means the tape goes on the window? The instructions say to "Apply tape around edge of window to clean dry surface.

Asked by: Greg
Thank you for reaching out. Yes, the tape goes to the window. It is double sided so the film will attach as well. Thanks

What is the thickness of the plastic in the 84″ X 25′ shrink and seal window insulation film kit? I see some of the other MD building products have thickness of 0.75 mil and I'm curious if this is the same.

Asked by: Devin
Dear Home Depot Canada customer, The thickness of the film in this product is 7.5 mil.
