Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation problems. Its quite possible that the shower base was installed incorrectly. When it is installed you have to spray foam underneath then set some full 5 gallon pails of water in the base to simulate the weight of an average person standing in the shower and to make the threshold level. Then when enough time has passed for the spray foam to be completely dry, you remove the pails of water. If you spray foam under it it will push up on the base and cause it to not be level or for the threshold to not be level. That is the fault of the contractor. Most contractors dont know how to properly install a shower base. Maybe this will help you solve your issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasted 30 month before hairline cracks appear I bought this shower pan in October 2020 and was very happy with it until about a month ago (30 months after installation) when hairline cracks started to appear in the base. The subfloor was reinforced with multiple sheets of plywood and leveled with self leveling cement prior to installing the base. Instruction were followed and extra mounds of mortar were used to provide additional support under the base. Despite all this the base is still developing hairline cracks. My take is that the product is just to thin for it's intended use. The warranty isn't much help due to the effort need to remove and reinstall a new pan. Very disappointed.

Specifically, the decking of the base (i.e. the part you step over to get into the shower) is sloped towards the floor instead of the drain! MAAX refuses to do more than refund the cost of the product despite the $2000 plus it would cost to properly correct this problem. Details: On November 13, 2019 I purchased a MAXX Shower Base from Home Depot at 55 Boulevard de la Cite des Jeunes in Vaudreuil, Quebec. The base and shower system was professionally installed level and as per the MAAX shower base instructions available on their web site. The shower base is the 34x42 inch 3inch deep model. The bathroom was recently finished. But we found to our dismay that approximately 1-2 liters of water end up on the floor outside the shower each time the shower is used. This is due to a defect of the base. Specifically, the decking of the base (i.e. the part you step over to get into the shower) is sloped towards the floor instead of the drain. The rest of the base is installed level to specification. Basically, any water that gets on the decking (including water splashing onto the shower door) makes its way towards the floor instead of the drain, causing a continual stream/dribble onto the floor. This happens even with a good seal on the lower edge of the door. Attached are several photographs of the installation. MAAX only offered to refund the cost of this unit by issuing a credit with Home Depot. This is very inadequate, because it does not cover the cost of labour to remove the shower base or provide an alternative to correct the problem. The cost of the bathroom upgrade was approximately $8000.00 CAD in materials and labour. This is also contravention an earlier statement by MAAX of "**Our process for instances as such, we have certified technicians that will come out to inspect and repair these units**". Stay away from MAAX products - especially this one unless you're willing to deal with expensive problems! This far MAAX has refused to properly address this problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will NEVER again buy from MAAX Will NEVER again buy from MAAX Where to begin with the disappointment? Horrible, horrible installation. Read the other review here which pretty much sums it up. The base itself: 1) It's super flimsy- I've had it for only months and it has seriously dented/cracked from simple everyday use like a small, one third full plastic shampoo bottle or even a razor falling on it! 2)Impossible to clean. This is the only shower base I have ever encountered (I've lived in 4 different homes and travel a lot for work- numerous hotels and airbnbs) that leaves dark discoloration marks - after every shower, just from walking on it) that are super difficult to clean off. Whoever designed this really did not think usability through. 3) It does not feel solid, very wobbly. 4) The drain part is made stupidly with ridges for water to always get trapped- really not a smart design. Unless Maax does something to make this right, I'll never again buy from them. I cannot recommend this product as it is.
