Create a sophisticated bathroom space with unparalleled ease and speed. Utile by MAAX is an innovative shower walls solution, available in a range of rich colors, deep textures and stylish patterns that look and feel like tile. Why is Utile superior to tile? Starting with purchase and installation: with tile, several other materials are required and a professional must complete the 3 days installation. Alternatively, Utile walls do not require the purchase of other materials except silicone, and a few tools if not already in hand. They are fixed directly on the studs, in 1 day and do not require hiring an expert! As for the long run: tile is a sturdy material, however grout requires regular care and maintenance to keep its look and integrity long term. Utile walls, on the other hand, have realistic and carefree faux grout lines that will not crack!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall love it, but not an easy install I wrote a review last year but somehow it is deleted now. This was not an easy kit to do, especially if retrofitting. It says on the box but not in the ads that it is meant for bathrooms 2012 and up? I can't remember the year exactly but our bathroom is from the 1980's and to get it to fit evenly was a pain. I will say that once it was installed it looks really good and we don't have the mold issues that you get with real tile. I wish it came with more shelving though as they charge over $50 for another shelf and it isn't exactly huge. If you plan on doing this, prepare for double or triple the time for fitting if you are doing this in an older bathroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is beautiful but needs quality control. It is beautiful but it has some issues. The walls are a beautiful fiberglass that simulate tile. The back and both side panels start off aligned on the bottom but gradully the sides tiles are higher than the back panel. This is mirrored on both end panels so it is a fabrication issue. The shower base is cheap and flimsy and Made in China (according to the box). It is advertised as North American made. We have purchased this brand before that the based came on a metal tub frame. For the price of this shower, I expected the same quality. I recommend swapping the base to a higher quality one when you purchase it, if you have that option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product overview is misleading Here is a quote of the product overview on this page "The MAAX Olympia shower base is comfortable, sturdier and designed for easy cleaning. The Olympia base is molded with a high quality acrylic sheet reinforced with fibreglass..." I trusted it and bought one to only find out the acrylic sheet is actually reinforced with styrofoam, there is no fibreglass at all. It's not sturdy either. Whenever stepping on it, the styrofoam starts making noise and movement that will cause water leak through the edge of flange.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for retrofit What Maax does not tell you until you get the box is that this system is for 2005 building codes. We have a house from the 1980's and we're taking out a tub enclosure to put this in. Well, the base may be 32, but you will need about 33-34 inches for the overhang of the flange of the side walls. Unless you are going to rip out all the existing drywall, redo some of your structure to match that of what their system wants, it isn't worth it. I have never owned a house with perfectly straight walls, but this system demands perfectly straight or the grout lines do not match up. When I called the Maax centre they were not that helpful (after waiting on hold for over 1/2 hour). It is a quality product; however, it is misleading. Installation 1 day? Ha. the prep work took over a week to get the system to work. We installed it in about 2 days and it is heavy. Now we have finishing work, which Maax does not give instruction for. How are you suppose to drywall over plastic coated fiberglass? If you have a preexisting system, it may be easier to just tile it. If you can get past the pain of installing it or if you have a new build this looks and feels like a sturdy and good system. Do not go into this project thinking you will get done in a weekend though, unless you are a professional. Just my 2 cents.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from shower pan squeaks I bought a complete kit to replace a alcove tub. Hired a great contractor who installed it with great care. Took special interest in ensuring that the floor was level for the pan. He was a little surprised to see that the shower pan was a hard shell over styrofoam. It's those two things rubbing together that squeak every time you take a step or shift your weight. Maax customer service said without a hint of concern or embarrassment "Oh, yeah, it does that. That's the design". "Will it get any better?" I asked hopefully. "Probably not", said Maax. I read online a guy vibrated talcum powder between the styrofoam and plastic shell and that stopped the squeaking but I don't know of the long term story on how that turned out. My shower is already installed so it will be a little hard to do that. I think the shower pan is a poor design and wish I had never bought it. It was a reasonable price ($350?) for the pan so that should have set off alarm bells. I would have happily paid an additional $300 for the non-squeak version - Maax do you hear that?...probably not if you're in the shower pan factory, what with all the squeaking. I

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish the grout lines lined up better The Utile shower panels are easy to install and easy to clean. But the “grout lines” do not line up at the corners, it is the actual size of the “tiles” that are off especially in tiles nearer the top of the panels.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't purchase this product. We purchased this shower stall. According to our contractor the base is not acrylic fibreglass but acrylic styrophone therefore it cannot be shimmied to level it. It is also spongy when you walk on it and is breaking down. The contractor said it would not last. I called Home Depot to see if we could purchase a fibreglass one but they had no other options for this shower stall. As a result we had to order one from a different hardware store which is costing us another $500.00. This is very disappointing to us. It also stopped our construction as we have to wait a week to receive the other base. Our contractor called the manufacturer and he actually told him that he was right in the fact that it would eventually break down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Product I purchased this base and just installed it. Thank goodness I have yet to close the unit in and tile as the base already has a great deal of play between the surface and the foam backing. I am going to tear it out to avoid the same situation other people have had based on their reviews. Terrible product. What at first seems like savings will cost you considerably more in the end. Would have given this product a zero but that wasn't an option. I'm hoping Home Depot will accept the used returned product. Very disappointing that a product like this would even be sold to customers.

Can I add one or two more corner shelfs in the 48" X 32" Marble Carrara Corner shower kit. The package indicates it comes with one shelf but that is not enough

Yes, we added two more shelves and it worked out beautifully.

What is the exact location of the centre of the drain from back wall and side wall (example: 16'-16') for this right drain setup?

Asked by: Eric
The center of the drain location is 8.5" by 16" from the right back corner. Please see the Olympia tech drawing in the Overview section of this page. There is a link that shows you all dimensions of the base, including drain location. Drain location is the same for right or left drain configurations. Thank you for considering Maax.
