Create a sophisticated bathroom space with unparalleled ease and speed. Utile by MAAX is an innovative shower walls solution, available in a range of rich colors, deep textures and stylish patterns that look and feel like tile. Why is Utile superior to tile? Starting with purchase and installation: with tile, several other materials are required and a professional must complete the 3 days installation. Alternatively, Utile walls do not require the purchase of other materials except silicone, and a few tools if not already in hand. They are fixed directly on the studs, in 1 day and do not require hiring an expert! As for the long run: tile is a sturdy material, however grout requires regular care and maintenance to keep its look and integrity long term. Utile walls, on the other hand, have realistic and carefree faux grout lines that will not crack!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality You get what you pay for! This shower base was quite a bit cheaper than the others on the website so I got it. The support system is just a big hunk of molded styrofoam, and the material of the base is flexible. Once the base was installed, there was a creaking styrofoam sound whenever you step on the base. There are several spots where you can actually feel your foot go down - there must be a hollow in the styrofoam or a gap between the base and the styrofoam. I was VERY disappointed, but the contractor had already laid the wall tile over it so I couldn't take it out. Not impressed! Wish I'd sprung for a more expensive item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is beautiful but needs quality control. It is beautiful but it has some issues. The walls are a beautiful fiberglass that simulate tile. The back and both side panels start off aligned on the bottom but gradully the sides tiles are higher than the back panel. This is mirrored on both end panels so it is a fabrication issue. The shower base is cheap and flimsy and Made in China (according to the box). It is advertised as North American made. We have purchased this brand before that the based came on a metal tub frame. For the price of this shower, I expected the same quality. I recommend swapping the base to a higher quality one when you purchase it, if you have that option.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall love it, but not an easy install I wrote a review last year but somehow it is deleted now. This was not an easy kit to do, especially if retrofitting. It says on the box but not in the ads that it is meant for bathrooms 2012 and up? I can't remember the year exactly but our bathroom is from the 1980's and to get it to fit evenly was a pain. I will say that once it was installed it looks really good and we don't have the mold issues that you get with real tile. I wish it came with more shelving though as they charge over $50 for another shelf and it isn't exactly huge. If you plan on doing this, prepare for double or triple the time for fitting if you are doing this in an older bathroom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor insructions, poor service The user manual instructs you to use a product that is not compatible with base material. Silicone does not adhere to the acrylic base. Home Depot staff tried to help by calling Maxx service. Maxx admitted manual wrong as silicone will not adhere to this product. In an attempt to ask the Maxx employee what product to use, I was questioned on my installation even though he already admitted the reason my silicone was not sealing the bottom bead between wall tiles and base was due to them listing wrong product. Service from Maxx is terrible and user manual is plain wrong. Do not recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy Construction! Good modern look - but very poor construction! Thin acrylic over a white hard foam core to support it? Not sure how all the flexing around the drain is to keep the drain seal from leaking; as the support foam thickness thins at the drain area to allow for a slope so the water can to run to the drain. So at the drain the foam is barely a half inch thick!. Surprised they even offer such a product from Maax!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality! Do not buy! Spend the extra $200-300 and get a different brand. It is made of cheap flimsy acrylic and a styrofoam base. It only weighs a few lbs which is an indication that it is cheap and won't hold up. Similar products from other reputable makers weighs 40lbs as it is good quality. We had ours professionally installed and personally witnessed that it was installed perfectly. Immediately after installation, you can hear creaking/squishing noises coming from the half of the base closest to the drain. There is no water leaking! What's happening is that the styrofoam base is separating from the acrylic so, you can hear the adhesive in between the two layers making that noise. Also, when you push your foot down on the floor it moves up and down which indicates separation from the foam base. I'm not sure how long this base is going to last before having to replace. I wish I had spent the extra money and got a good quality base. Heck, I plan on using my shower for at least for 10-15 years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for retrofit What Maax does not tell you until you get the box is that this system is for 2005 building codes. We have a house from the 1980's and we're taking out a tub enclosure to put this in. Well, the base may be 32, but you will need about 33-34 inches for the overhang of the flange of the side walls. Unless you are going to rip out all the existing drywall, redo some of your structure to match that of what their system wants, it isn't worth it. I have never owned a house with perfectly straight walls, but this system demands perfectly straight or the grout lines do not match up. When I called the Maax centre they were not that helpful (after waiting on hold for over 1/2 hour). It is a quality product; however, it is misleading. Installation 1 day? Ha. the prep work took over a week to get the system to work. We installed it in about 2 days and it is heavy. Now we have finishing work, which Maax does not give instruction for. How are you suppose to drywall over plastic coated fiberglass? If you have a preexisting system, it may be easier to just tile it. If you can get past the pain of installing it or if you have a new build this looks and feels like a sturdy and good system. Do not go into this project thinking you will get done in a weekend though, unless you are a professional. Just my 2 cents.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from shower pan squeaks I bought a complete kit to replace a alcove tub. Hired a great contractor who installed it with great care. Took special interest in ensuring that the floor was level for the pan. He was a little surprised to see that the shower pan was a hard shell over styrofoam. It's those two things rubbing together that squeak every time you take a step or shift your weight. Maax customer service said without a hint of concern or embarrassment "Oh, yeah, it does that. That's the design". "Will it get any better?" I asked hopefully. "Probably not", said Maax. I read online a guy vibrated talcum powder between the styrofoam and plastic shell and that stopped the squeaking but I don't know of the long term story on how that turned out. My shower is already installed so it will be a little hard to do that. I think the shower pan is a poor design and wish I had never bought it. It was a reasonable price ($350?) for the pan so that should have set off alarm bells. I would have happily paid an additional $300 for the non-squeak version - Maax do you hear that?...probably not if you're in the shower pan factory, what with all the squeaking. I

Hi. Is one door fixed on this model? Are the doors reversible on this model? In other words if I have a right hand shower, can I install the door to open from the left (assuming one is fixed). Thanks

Asked by: RobN
I'm not positive. I think I had to order the door the way I intended to open it.

Does this kit include the side glass panel? I downloaded the instructions and it mentions nothing a about how to install glass door and side glass panel.

Asked by: Eric
The kits will match the picture. The instructions for the door and side panel will be in the box. You could also search up the glass door and panel separately and see if the instructions are available.
