Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and fast Love it, quick to fill and very quiet. I personally use it with a Hitachi braid gun but have no doubt that the one with it work well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kit Brad nailer is better than expected for a kit, everything works, quiet compressor. Would recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive but what I wanted I researched this a fair amount before purchasing so the break-in process and setup was pretty smooth. I used the kit to do the trim in our bedrooms and everything worked great once I got the pressure adjusted properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy little compressor Had it for a month and a half to install some flooring and a bit of trim. No complaints. Not huge volumes of air but still pretty good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great so far Filled truck tires, fired about 100 2" brads without a misfire or jam; so far so good. It's my first compressor and learned the limitations of the small tank when filling truck tires and blowing out my garage floor. If you need lots of air get a bigger tank. The provided instructions must have been improved because they provided adequate detail for me to get things going, where previously reviews complained about the poor instructions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The compressor is too heavy for its size, otherwise it OK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a machine!! This is a review from a user, I own it. This compressor is much quieter than I expected. I had used a Porter Cable 6 gal in the past and considered buying that. However, I remembered how loud it seemed to me. Not just loud, a higher pitch kind of loud. This BIG BORE has a deeper tone to it that is no problem for me. I have hearing issues so this is a big deal. As others have said, there are no assembly instructions. I had to look at the exploded diagram to figure it out. Basically there is the oil plug (black) and the air intake filter (chrome) that need to be installed. There is a somewhat translucent plug currently where both of these go. The oil plug goes near where the sight glass is. The air intake goes more at the top, where the large plastic cover is. You almost use all the oil when you fill it up, so buy extra. Also, do an oil change after the break in period. The Makita manual says nothing about this, but it is very common to do this with oil compressors. In fact, it is mentioned in many other manuals for other compressors. My oil did have debris in it when I did a change. If you are like me, you are looking at this higher priced compressor because you want it to last a long time. So then fork over a few bucks in oil and 15 minutes of your time for an oil change. You won't regret it. I put Dewalt Synthetic oil in, so it should always be ready in these Canadian prairies. Also... ALWAYS bleed the compressor after every use with the valve at the bottom of the tank. No need to get a rust filled tank!! The Brad Nailer. I spent A LOT of time mulling over the different brad nailers. I was strongly considering the Bostitch line. Home Depot uses these in their rental fleet. I could have got a Bostitch 6 gal compressor and 3 guns for $100 less than this at a competitors, on sale. BUT... I wasn't keen on the compressor or the 18 gauge gun. The big thing for me is that I can get jammed nails out of the Makita gun with just the flick of a switch. I don't have to go get my allen keys and take the gun apart... wasting all sorts of time. Quick and easy. Other guns (not Bostitch mind you) have some key parts that are plastic, such as the area you load the nails into. The Makita felt really solid. How does it work??? Perfect!!! The gun fires well. The depth adjustment works well. Unlike most other kits, the gun comes with a nice shape-fitted case, with spots for oil and safety glasses (included). The compressor holds air well (make sure to get teflon tape!!). It fills up fast and the regulator is easy to use. There are several plastic rings on the regulator so (I think) you can set a certain spot and lock it in, say 100 PSI. I was also very surprised that it came with a 300 PSI hose. Yes... it's heavy. But it is also small and easy to keep close to your body when moving it, so the weight isn't too bad. Watch it though, some parts of the compressor get quite hot! The online price is currently lower than the "in store" price. Point this out to them and they will lower the price for you immediately. They were very helpful. Final word... money well spent!!

can you use this for nailing hardwood floors?

Asked by: Anonymous
I bought a flooring nailer to work with it, test nails were fine. I have laid hardwood with compressors with much poorer cfm rating.

Brad Nailer - easy to find nails for it?

I know some tool kits ( compressor and gun combo) seem to run great, but people often review saying it is very difficult to find nails or staples for it. Is that the case here?
Asked by: Anonymous
It uses standard 18 gauge brad nails like most other brad nailers.

Is the supplied hose of good quality?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it is. 3/8" ID. The hose is much better than on most other compressors that I considered.

Can you run a framing nailer off of this compressor?

Asked by: Anonymous
I bought a framing nailer to use with the Makita compressor.. The test nails were fine. Based on the info in the manual and the nailer I should be able to drive 60 nails per minute. I do not anticipate any problems.

Strong enough to run floor/framing nailer?

Just wondering if it is strong enough to run a floor or framing nailer off this one compressor. Would only need it to run one gun at a time, and is not for contractor use just the normal homeowner.
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. I am running a flooring nailer and a stick framing nailer with it. I can nail as fast as the guns will cycle and the compressor keeps up fine.

What range of lengths of brads will the nailer take?

Asked by: Anonymous
The range of 18ga nails is 5/8 to 2 inches. Hope this helps.

How much for the compressor w/o the nailer?

Fine if you need a nailer, but I have three brad nailers already - the last thing I need is one more but I WOULD like the compressor. If it can't be purchased alone - which I can't imagine - then making me buy another nailer is a deal-breaker!
Asked by: Anonymous
The compressor can be special ordered in-store using the model number MAC700. I hope this helps.
