Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good mower for smaller properties So I have a small lot (3200 sq ft) and maybe half that is grass. This mower works great for me. If I don't use the power assist the batteries barely drain to do my full yard. If I use the power assist the whole time the batteries still last the whole yard but are pretty close to flat by then. I like the handle in the center to lift it up over the retaining wall to reach the upper terraced part of our backyard. I think if you had a very large yard that required power assist a lot (slopes) you'd be better served by a gas mower or just have a second set of batteries but flat properties will have no issues with battery life. Otherwise appears to cut the grass just as good as my old gas mower. Bags everything and I don't have to go over areas multiple times.

La recharge des batteries prend 1h30.

Being honest, this mower is a piece of junk. The display sign at Home Depot said it cuts over 7000 square feet of grass with 2 5amp batteries. The mower only came with 2 x 4 amp batteries and unfortunately I wasn't able to even cut half of my lawn with the 2 new 4 amp batteries that it came with. My lawn can't be more than 2,000 square feet. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Unfortunately I bought the brand new unused floor model for $549.00. I'm hoping they will let me return this. Also I should state that my grass was NOT over grown. It was however about 2-3 inches long is some small places. Perhaps if your grass is VERY short and you only have a couple thousand square fee to cut you might be okay. You will just have to cut it VERY regularly!!! If you want to extend the battery life, do not use the self propelled feature at all!!!

Je suis bien content de ne plus avoir besoin d'essence et d'huile pour la tondeuse.

In fact I have enough power left over to use my blower and trimmer. I did upgrade to two 5ah batteries. The cut of my lawn is perfect. I bought the self propelled model but only used it once to make sure it works. The lawnmower is so light it really is not need.

I know that it comes with 4A batteries.  Will using 5A batteries make any difference performance/longevity wise

Thanks for your question. Yes, using higher amp hour Makita batteries will definitely provide longer run time. Makita offers 5.0Ah and 6.0Ah batteries that are fully compatible with this lawn mower.

Thank you for your comment. I encourage you to ensure your batteries are fully charged prior to starting your mow lawn. To maximize runtime, consider adjusting the height adjustment to cut your lawn to an optimal height. It is also always good to have a extra batteries on hand. Due to Makita's industry leading charge time, you can quickly charge your extra batteries while you are mowing your lawn then quickly switch out batteries if necessary.
