Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite of the battery powered grinders Outstanding in the family of grinders. It will do what the manufacture claims. I like the balance, the power and ease of battery drain. And they will look pretty in action and on your grinder shelf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makita Grinder works well, but is not a replacement for... Makita Grinder works well, but is not a replacement for an electric grinder. Since electric grinders run at 10,000 RPMs and this one is at 8,500 it simply is not as fast as an electric. However, for remote applications, or using a cutting wheel to remove the end of a bolt, it works fine. It is also a bit longer as compared to an electric grinder, so it is slightly more bulky. Otherwise, it seems to work fine and I would recommend it. However, if you are a welder or fabricator, it will not replace your electric grinder.

Paddle Switch vs Slide Switch?

There is a similar model with a slide switch on top. Which one is more convenient? Does your hand get tired from constantly depressing the paddle?
Asked by: AMM
I would not purchase the top switch. I like the paddle switch grinders much better then the top switch. If you are wearing heavy welding gloves, this design is much superior as the top switch is difficult to use. Your hand does not get tired as you have to hold the grinder anyway to keep it from kicking back at you. I refuse to purchase a top switch grinder and all of ours are paddle switch. We have approximately 7 grinders between my dad and I and all are paddle grinders. It does come down to preference, I am confident.

I have a Makita impack driver LXT (a few years old) with 18V BL1815 batteries, will my batteries work with this cut-off angle grinder?
Asked by: ProwerBlue
No. The BL1815 batteries will not go on the XAG20Z angle grinder. The BL1815 is a lower capacity battery, and will not adequately handle the current of this angle grinder and are made to NOT fit this angle grinder. I have this angle grinder and those exact BL1815 batteries. Not all is lost though. I also have BL1850 batteries for the angle grinder. Those BL1850 batteries DO also work on my older drill/driver that came with the BL1815 batteries AND both the BL1815 and BL1850 batteries fit and charge on the older charger that came with my older drill/driver.
