Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have installed about 200 sq ft of red oak... I have installed about 200 sq ft of red oak flooring 2 1\4" X 3\4" and needed a "Edger" to sand around the perimeter . I did not want to rent a Drum sander or an Edger to do this job ..or deal with "Tony" in the rental store, and all that goes with that. As I have did this once before, ( whole house) and with the addition of the "Makita"I felt confident that It would make my life easier . So I used my 3" X 21" belt sander and a 1\4 sheet palm sander ,and the Makita ... Came out just fine. I used 50 grit, 80, 100, and finished with a 150 grit with the Makita over the whole floor . I plan on "buffing" the finish (final coat) using the Makita with 3M fine "ScothBright" ( for a dull Semi gloss finish)Note: you can use the standard 8 hole 6" discs as the Makita has two sets of holes ( inner and outer) ..just have to "punch out " for the center hole .So you don't have to use the Makita discs.Overall a really good machine. and very versatile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This sander made my life easier!! I bought this 6 inch orbital sander to do my cedar deck. In the past, the sanding chore has been miserable. This year: less than half the time and less than half the effort. Not only that, a much superior result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice unit Have tried numerous orbital sanders for doing body work on project cars, and I've had two of these units, they last a long time and take a lot of abuse, and are easier to handle than any of the other orbitals I've tried for paint removal and color sanding. 2nd one is showing signs the bearings are going bad but doesn't upset me, they've been through harsh treatment for at least 5 years each, perfectly willing to spend a little more and get another one of these gems. Makita makes quality equipment, I've got several of their buffers and sanders. Would not hesitate to recommend to others.
