We spent a lot of time looking at various flooring options ranging from luxury vinyl to laminate and engineered hardwood. In the end, we selected the 7 1/2" plank Belmont. Even though the wider planks were about $1 more per square foot, the thicker wear layer and longer boards were well worth the money spent. As for the color, the floors turned out exactly the way we were hoping, although we were nervous about ordering them without being able to see them in store. We've had the flooring installed for about four months now, and they seem to be pretty durable. The ultra low gloss finish is not only what we were hoping for in terms of style, but it also helps with the wear. We have four young kids and a large dog, but scuffs and minor dents are hardly noticeable. We have had hardwood flooring in other houses, and this was not the case. Overall, we are very pleased with the flooring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hardwood It’s a nice product but we ended up not keeping it because there is too much color variation. It would look good in a rustic farm house or cottage but we were looking for a more uniform color. It’s good quality, the wear layer is about 2mm which isn’t specified in the specs. 2mm isn’t too bad but could be better.

Could this be glued down over existing tile and hardwood flooring? We've been told we can float some hardwood and definitely luxury vinyl planks over our existing floor, but I'm not sure about glue down options....

Asked by: Forrest
You can glue down directly over the tile floor – depending on the size of the grout lines they may need to be filled with a leveling compound. As for the tile itself – it must be clean and void of any wax or polish that may interfere with the bond of the adhesive and we would defer to the adhesive manufacturer for the requirements to bond to the tile floor. Tile should also be structurally sound and well bonded to the subfloor – any loose or broken tiles should be corrected. For detailed installation instructions, please refer to the "Installation Guide" located as a PDF file attached to each Product listing page under "Info & Guides". For assistance and troubleshooting please call our Home Depot Technical Services department @ 800-928-6168.

Do they have a Stair nosing, T molding , quarter round or Bull noise for the malibu Belmont

Asked by: Nathan
A new Molding Supplier "Roppe" is in process of onboarding all Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Coordinating moldings (Quarter Round, Reducer, T-Mold, Stair Nose) that will be available for purchase online or in store Special Order by the end of March 2021. An alternative would be to purchase UNFINISHED White Oak Moldings, take a medium tone (light, medium, dark planks choose the middle color range) flooring plank to develop a custom stain that will coordinate with the flooring, then stain and finish the moldings as needed. If you need further assistance, please try the Malibu Wide Plank Customer Service Department at 650-416-7300.

How much to lay hard wood floor for 16ft ×
Asked by: San
Are you asking cost to install hardwood? Hardwood installation can be professionally installed in all areas of the USA, HDMS/Home Depot Measure Services also does in home Flooring installation quotes to see all aspects of installation involved to then quote the total install cost. This may entail leveling subfloor, rip out of existing floor, removal and replacement of furniture, adhesive cost if glued down, underlayment cost if floated or 15lb felt cost if stapled down over a wood subfloor, along with all baseboard, trim cost such as T-Mold, quarter round, reducer installation etc. Combine this with material cost = total cost of your New Beautiful Hardwood Floor.

Can this floor be sanded and refinished?

Can this floor be sanded and refinished?
Asked by: Agb1980
The entire collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean and easy to maintain. All of our floors are sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear and all backed by a Lifetime Residential Finish & 5 Year Commercial Warranty. If you wanted to strip off all (7) Layers of Factory UV Cured Stain & Finish, and bring floor down to raw unfinished smooth wood, then re-stain and refinish, pending the install application this could technically be done (1) time on the 3/8” & 1/2” Engineered Locking which has a 1.2mm Thick Face Veneer and (2) times on the 1/2” & 9/16” Engineered Tongue & Groove which has a 2mm Face Veneer. However this sand & finish is not covered under warranty as there are too many variables which can affect the outcome performed by your professional sand and finish mechanic. More then likely you would never sand and finish a prefinished floor unless you want to 100% Change the color. You would also lose your lifetime residential finish warranty and the surface texture which is wire brushed or distressed with saw mark etc. If needed for whatever reason you could apply a new coat of finish to the floor using the Basic Coatings TyKote or Bona Prep recoat adhesion method for recoating a prefinished hardwood floor that contains aluminum oxide. If board damage occurs, you can always have a professional mechanic perform board replacement.

**By the way, in regards to my previous question I posted, I forgot to remind you that I am on a cement foundation and would like to know if the recommended glue down method would avoid all transitional pieces in doorways and around an 8 foot freestanding wall separating my living room and kitchen. Also, if floated and glue jointed, are transitions in same spots mandatory. TY The previous question I posted and was referring to is listed above as: "I live in central Florida. I was previously told that the recommended method of installation was glue down. If I glue down in lieu of floating glue joint, can I avoid all transitions/transitional pieces in the home and do I still use the underlayment? The 844 number rings and then goes to a busy signal so I can not call you to ask as previously advised. Thanks."

Our 844-658-4700 Technical services # is up and running, an alternative phone # is 650-416-7300 where we can then get you dialed in to our head of technical services to answer any questions you may have. Please refer to the "Installation Guide" located as a PDF file attached to each Product listing page under "Info & Guides". Expansion Space/T-molding Breaks: An expansion break is required to break continuous runs exceeding 40’ in width and 40’ in length. T-molding transitions are used to filled in the gap required for expansion breaks. A 3/4” gap is required at all walls and fix objects. Installations fewer than 30’ in length or width can use a ½” gap at all walls and fixed objects. For room dimensions of greater than 40’ in length or width, the flooring should be glued down using an approved adhesive.
